The Marvel star, Jeremy Renner, appeared on the Ellen K. Morning Show on KOST 103.5 FM on Tuesday, where the actor revealed that he’s finally about to get back into the driving seat of his snowplow a year after his near-fatal accident. The 52-year-old Renner shared with the host that it was crucial for him to drive the machine again, but he tackled his fears head-on.
Back on January 1, 2023, Renner had a terrible accident where he broke more than 30 bones with his six-tons snowplow. Renner told the host that “you have to go to the eye of the storm of something, of anybody’s problems.” He believes that one should also try to overcome their fears by facing them head-on, as fears prevent them from actually healing.
Jeremy Renner shared about his recovery from his accident
The Marvel star, Jeremy Renner, broke more than 30 bones of his own from the six-tons snowplow on 1 January 2023 while saving his nephew. A year after this incident, when he appeared on the Ellen K. Morning Show, he revealed that even though it was crucial, he faced it head-on.
Renner said on the show, “Fears can prevent you from actual healing, prevent you from moving forward in your life, or stop you from doing things that are helpful or growth in your life, so I always go to the eye of the storm.” Later, he continued, “I’ve always done that since I was a kid. I’m not going to allow fear to dominate my actions or lack thereof, so I got back on that machine, and I started it up, and I moved it around.”
While recalling his moments from back then, he said that his hat was ‘still stuck’ in the snowplow as he was driving it again. As he continued, he said, “There are a lot of memories; of course, they pop into my brain. I do certain stretches in the gym, and I’m reminded of how I actually got run over, and I start crying. I have no idea why. But there are memories in these things,” said the host of the show.
Like others, Renner admits that even though he acknowledges his fears, he doesn’t want to bury them; instead, he certainly reviews them, including driving the snowcat, which was an important thing for him to do. Renner had to undergo multiple surgeries after the incident took place at his place in Reno, Nevada, on January 1, 2023, while helping his nephew take a vehicle out of the snow.
Renner shared that music had helped him a lot last year during his journey of recovery and added, “It’s a musical diary entry, a journal entry, and kind of healing and cathartic for me, and I’m sharing it because I think a lot of people were on this journey with me and this recovery.”
He further states that the music had worked for him in different aspects, as it worked as a wonderful healer in his healing era, and he hopes that it works the same for others as well. Renner’s appearance at the radio show on Tuesday was followed by a post he made on Instagram where he praised his daughter, Ava Berlin (10), and said that she’s “reason number one for my recovery.” in the caption of the post.
In the same caption of the post, he recalls the moment when he first saw her on January 14 as he arrived home and said “wait for me” to her. Renner mentioned that as time went by, he was getting better, as was her daughter, whom he shares with his ex, Soni Pacheco.
Later, he wrote, “There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends,” and added, “With gratitude always, thank you all for your love and support this last full year. I needed every ounce of goodwill and prayer.”
He also mentioned the release of his video made from ‘Love and Titanium.’ Renner’s appearance on the radio show was also to have a discussion about his new EP, Love, and Titanium, which will be released later this month, on January 19.
