Following Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, Jaylen Brown addressed questions regarding his exclusion from the All-NBA Team for the 2023-24 season. The Celtics player, aged 27, emphasized the team’s focus on reaching the NBA Finals, indicating little concern for individual accolades.
“We’re two games away from the Finals… I don’t got no time to give a f***,” Brown bluntly stated during the press conference. “I watch guys get praised and anointed who I feel like are half as talented as me on either side of the ball.
But at this point in my life, I just embrace it. It comes with being who I am and what I stand for, and I ain’t really changing that. So I just come out, and I’m grateful to step on the floor each and every night.”
Brown’s impact on the court has been significant in the Celtics’ success throughout the series. In Game 1, his clutch three-pointer forced overtime, ultimately leading to victory. In Game 2, he showcased his scoring prowess with a 40-point performance, securing a crucial road win for Boston.
Coach Mazulla and Tatum’s comments regarding Brown’s performance
Teammate Jayson Tatum expressed disappointment over Brown’s All-NBA snub, highlighting his importance to the team. “We all felt like internally that he should’ve made one of the All-NBA teams,” Tatum remarked, acknowledging Brown’s contributions.
Coach Joe Mazzulla praised Brown’s maturity and dedication, emphasizing his strong work ethic and self-awareness. “He’s a very mature guy… He knows what’s important and what’s not. He works really hard and he knows who he is as a person and as a player,” Mazzulla commended.
Despite personal setbacks, Brown remains focused on leading the Celtics to success in the postseason, prioritizing team achievements over individual recognition.
