CyberAgent announced on Wednesday its plan to acquire the creative company Nitroplus for 16.704 billion yen, approximately US$104 million.
Starting July 1, CyberAgent will own a 72.5% controlling stake in Nitroplus, making it a subsidiary. Nitroplus founder and CEO Takaki Kosaka, known as Digitarou, alongside Vice President Gen Urobuchi and the entire Nitroplus staff, will continue to be part of the company.
Founded in 1999 and formally registered in 2000, Nitroplus is renowned for its dark and high-concept visual novels.
Notable works include Phantom of Inferno, Saya no Uta, and Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa. The company has collaborated on popular visual novels like ChaosHEAd and Steins;Gate, and has also developed online games such as Touken Ranbu.
Nitroplus has a boy’s love visual novel brand, Nitro+CHiRAL. Nitroplus has expanded its influence into manga, anime, and light novels, working on titles such as Fate/Zero and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Their collaborations have produced numerous successful series across various media. The company is recognized for its storytelling and complex settings, making significant contributions to both the gaming and anime industries.
CyberAgent, established in 2011, has a strong presence in the gaming and anime sectors through its subsidiary Cygames.
They have produced popular games like Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy and have invested in numerous anime projects.
Their strategic partnerships, including a capital alliance with Kadokawa Corporation and Sony, aim to expand their global reach and leverage mutual business strengths.
Recently, CyberAgent acquired stage production company Nelke Planning, further diversifying its portfolio.
