Japanese Box Office Dominated By Doraemon Movie Sixth Week Running

The thirty-ninth editions of Doraemon movie has been at the helm of the box office in Japan for the sixth week running. Doraemon is originally a manga series written by Fujiko F. Fujio. It is one of the most popular anime with the kids. Its been going on for decades now and this year Doraemon franchise release the thirty-ninth movie of Doraemon.

This new movie is titled “Doraemon the Movie: Chronicle of the Moon Exploration.” The plot of the movie is a very interesting one. Doraemon and Nobita along with their friends travel to the moon in order to explore it, but things do not go as expected. A character named Luna who is a girl living on the far side of the moon along with Diabolo and his subordinate Goddard do not want Nobita and his friends exploring the moon.

This plot does seem to be a breath of fresh air for Doraemon fans as it is a way more different storyline then what the fans have got in recent time. Since this movie has been at the helm of the Japanese box office, it is evident that it is making some serious amount of money. The total earnings thus far since the opening weekend count to more than forty million USD. On the first weekend, it earned around six to seven million USD.

The highest grossing movie of the Doraemon franchise has been last year’s movie known as Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Takarajima which has earned around 48.1 million USD but it seems that the current new movie is easily going to surpass the records set by Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Takarajima.

Doraemon 39th movie

Also, it is interesting to know that the last three movies have broken every record set by the previous movies.

It looks like this trend is going to continue this time around as well because Doraemon the Movie: Chronicle of the Moon Exploration is not showing any signs of slowing down and it will easily be the first movie in the Doraemon franchise to cross the 50 million USD mark in the coming days for sure. The director of this record-breaker movie is Shinnosuke Yakuwa.

The scriptwriter is Midzuki Tsujimura. Doraemon manga, anime and movies have been close to the hearts of almost everyone throughout the world especially the younger section of fans. I do hope that the franchise continues its good work in the near future as well.
