Yonezu Kenshi’s LOST CORNER Showcases Stellar Tracks and Global Achievements
LOST CORNER is richly packed with a total of 20 tracks, including an illustrious collection of songs Yonezu has released over the past four years. Notable among them is “Spinning Globe,” the theme song for Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki-directed film The Boy and the Heron, which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Another highlight is “KICK BACK,” the opening theme for the TV anime Chainsaw Man. This track made Yonezu the first-ever Japanese artist to rank in Spotify’s “Top 50 – Global” chart and the first Japanese language song to achieve RIAA® Gold certification. The album also features “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing,” the theme song for Final Fantasy XVI, a globally popular video game series.
LOST CORNER marks Yonezu’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s STRAY SHEEP, which set records on the IFPI Global All Format Chart and became the highest-placing Japanese artist ever to appear on the IFPI year-end global ranking chart, shipping over 1.9 million cumulative CD units.
Upon the release of STRAY SHEEP, Yonezu gained worldwide attention with the “Yonezu Kenshi 2020 Event / STRAY SHEEP in FORTNITE.” This event made him the first Asian artist to hold a virtual concert in FORTNITE, a battle royale game with 370 million players globally.
On the same day, New York’s Fifth Avenue UNIQLO storefront showcased Yonezu’s self-drawn illustrations, trending not only in the U.S. but worldwide. The storefront collaboration was also featured in Japan and China, with a total of 8 UNIQLO stores worldwide.
