Prepare for IU and Park Bo Gum’s upcoming drama, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” (working title)!
“When Life Gives You Tangerines” is penned by renowned writer Lim Sang Chun, known for hits like “Fight My Way” and “When the Camellia Blooms,” and directed by Kim Won Seok, acclaimed for his work on “Misaeng (Incomplete Life),” “Signal,” and “My Mister.”
The Korean title, written in Jeju dialect, translates to “You Have Done Well.” The drama narrates the adventurous life stories of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik, born on Jeju Island in the 1950s. IU portrays the bold and rebellious Ae Sun, while Park Bo Gum takes on the role of Gwan Sik, a quiet yet reliable character.
IU, renowned for her remarkable filmography including “My Mister,” “Hotel Del Luna,” “Broker,” and “Dream,” collaborates with director Kim Won Seok for the second time after “My Mister.” Her character, Ae Sun, hailing from Jeju Island, is portrayed as ambitious and rebellious, fiercely battling against her predetermined destiny.
Park Bo Gum, known for standout performances in projects like “Record of Youth,” “Seo Bok,” and the musical “Let Me Fly,” takes on the role of the steadfast Gwan Sik. Expressing himself through actions rather than words, Gwan Sik, an earnest character, harbors a pure and unwavering love for Ae Sun.
Additionally, Moon So Ri, recognized for her roles in “Three Sisters,” “Queenmaker,” and “Race,” along with Park Hae Joon, acclaimed for performances in “My Mister,” “The World of the Married,” and “12.12: The Day,” will portray the elder versions of Ae Sun and Gwan Sik.
