Uncle extends his sincere apologies to Takafumi for the years he has missed after learning of this startling discovery.
As Uncle comes to, the Dreamcast Sega’s final home system holds a particular place in his heart. Takafumi introduces Uncle to downloadable games while he yearns for the Dreamcast exclusive Sonic Adventure. He has never used physical game disks before, so this is a big change. Let’s see when chapter 51 of Isekai Ojisan is going to release the timings and where to read it.
Recap
Chapter 50 of “Isekai Ojisan” has a 40-year time leap. Uncle seems young at heart, even with the years that have passed. Uncle’s dismay at discovering that Sega has given up on the console market is the central theme of the narrative. On his fourth morning since Sega’s revelation, Takafumi greets him with the words, “Good morning, Uncle.
Uncle has a turbulent past, as he recalls what happened four days earlier. Takafumi was perplexed by his reaction when he initially learned that Sega was exiting the console business because he had a nosebleed. Uncle is having difficulty remembering, but the Spirit of Memory looks into it quickly. A key plot point involves the Dreamcast console, which Sega debuted in January 2001.
Uncle can’t remember anything after a tragic event that takes him to a different planet, including the Dreamcast that he had been dying to get. Uncle discloses that to protect TakaFumi from harm, and he deleted memories about Sega’s withdrawal from the console market.
He also forgot about the Dreamcast when his mystical control evaporated. Uncle introduces himself as a completely new person because of this memory loss, and it’s his first time meeting TakaFumi. Uncle lost the opportunity to acquire the Dreamcast, which is the missing piece of his world.
When TakaFumi shows that he doesn’t care about Uncle’s Sega expertise, Uncle admits that his personality has changed. Takafumi says that Uncle can still download Sonic Adventure and play it on a contemporary system while he bemoans not being able to play it on the original platform.
Uncle is perplexed by the idea of downloading games after a year. Takafumi offers to assist him in getting the console online. They talk about Uncle’s ignorance of the internet, but TakaFumi thinks he’ll pick it up quickly. Takafumi discovers Sonic Adventure for an unexpectedly low cost when perusing the internet store.
Uncle notes that Sega debuted downloadable games in 1990 by linking them via a “Mega Modum” and charging phone download fees, in addition to being amazed at the ease of buying games from home. He clarifies that in 1990, Sega released the first games that could be downloaded. Uncle realizes that when he switches off the electricity, the downloaded games vanish, forcing him to pay each time he wants to play.
After witnessing the antiquated system, he is grateful for the advancements in game technology. As Takafumi points out, one may now save their game progress, demonstrating the advancements made in the gaming industry.
He excitedly shares his newfound understanding with TakaFumi, asserting that despite Sega’s innovations have paved the path for modern gaming systems, the company has not yet exited the console business.
Takafumi questions whether using other platforms to play Sega games qualifies those systems as Sega consoles. The two get into a funny debate about what constitutes a Sega system. Takafumi disagrees, even if Uncle insists that, in a broad sense, all consoles are Sega systems. Their amusing repartee highlights their special chemistry and adds humor to the tale.
Thus, Chapter 50 of “Isekai Ojisan” shows Uncle realizing how Sega shaped the video game business and Uncle’s comical exchange with TakaFumi as they argue about what exactly qualifies as a Sega game system. We enjoy nostalgic moments, comedic times, and touching moments as the characters become closer due to their mutual love of gaming.
