In the recently released Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film, Yuta Okkotsu emerged as the new fan-favorite character. Why won’t he be? After all, he is the most promising student of Jujutsu High and is considered as the special grade sorcerer next in line to Satoru Gojo. However, things get trickier when he bluntly claims that his cursed energy reserve is more than that of his sensei. Does that mean Yuta Okkotsu is really stronger than Gojo?
In the ongoing Culling Games arc, Yuta is seen slaying one after another opponent and is currently standing at a solid 33 points mark. With Gojo sensei sealed, he is the strongest sorcerer alive and is one of the most potent participants of the Culling games. I won’t be surprised at all if he comes up with a cursed technique superior to that of ‘Purple’ or ‘Limitless void.’ Here, we have brought together a detailed comparison between Yuta Okkotsu and Satoru Gojo.
Is Yuta Stronger than Gojo?
No, as things stand now, there’s no firm evidence supporting Yuta being stronger than Gojo. Well, he surely possesses the ability to copy any cursed technique and make it his own. In the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, we saw he copied Inumaki’s Cursed Speech technique like it was no big deal. However, I have serious doubts if he can recreate techniques like ‘Purple’ and ‘Immeasurable Void’ since he lacks the Six Eyes.
Why is Gojo Stronger?
Well, Yuta wasn’t lying when he claimed himself to have more cursed energy than Gojo. However, here’s where Gojo’s beautiful eyes come into play. With his Six Eyes, he can control the flow of cursed energy and prevent any sort of leakage. In other words, he will never run out of curse energy, and the flashy moves he pulls off cost him negligible exhaustion. On the other hand, Yuta is physically weak. He has to envelop his body and katana with cursed energy to fight, thereby causing a massive amount of leakage. Thus, the primary difference between them that sets them apart is cursed energy control.
Gojo’s Immeasurable Void domain expansion is meant to defeat anyone and everyone in his way. We are still unaware if Yuta has learned any domain expansion, and even if he has, it’s safe to assume that it won’t stand a chance before Gojo’s signature move. Moreover, Gojo’s battle experience is far more than Yuta’s, and he knows exactly how to adapt his fighting style depending upon the situation. This is something Yuta is yet to learn.
Can Yuta Surpass Gojo?
Yes, there are high chances that Yuta will surpass his sensei in the future. In fact, that’s what Gojo wants to happen in order to keep his legacy alive through his students. He is well aware that he is surrounded by enemies, so knowing that his students are strong enough to defend themselves while he isn’t around should be a relief.
Moreover, the fact that Yuta and Gojo are distant relatives hints that Yuta is the only one who can attain so much power. Both of them belong to the family of Japan’s big three vengeful spirits, Sugawara no Michizane. This explains the reason behind Gojo and Yuta being so overpowered. In addition to that, Yuta draws cursed energy from the Queen of Curses, Rika.
The manga has officially confirmed that Rika is still alive, and we saw her showing up before Itadori in the Shibuya Incident arc. If Yuta learns to control the cursed energy flow of his body and his spirit, he will eventually emerge as the most invincible shaman of all time. We know a curse grows exponentially over time, and Yuta manages to cope with that insane speed; there’s no telling how strong he can grow. The same logic applies to Itadori Yuji as well, but let’s just leave him for now.
