The 2013 reality show Vanderpump Rules might have started as a spin-off to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but there’s no doubt that this show is on a different league of drama and spice. The show focuses on Lisa Vanderpump and the staff at her restaurants and bars and, obviously, their relationship with each other.
Diving deep into these people’s professional and personal lives, the show has been running smoothly for ten seasons and even has a 6-star rating on IMDb. Lisa owns SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Pump Restaurant, and Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar in West Hollywood, California, and her workers also appear on this show.
The first ever episode of VPR was aired on 7th January 2013 in the USA. Like most of the famous reality TV shows, Vanderpump Rules is also Bravo’s child. The original cast members of VPR are Lisa alongside Kristen Doute, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder, Scheana Shay, and Jax Taylor, with some other members appearing when required.

In the ten years duration, with so many people having been a part of this show, it’s expected that there will be some rumors and drama in real life as well. One of the biggest questions viewers have had in their minds is whether the show is real or it’s just another scripted drama.
Some of the cast members who used to work with the show have, time and time again, expressed their thoughts and views.
Jax and his wife, Brittany Cartwright, appeared in the show for a long time, but unfortunately, they had to leave the show in 2020. Now, the couple had mentioned several things at different points in time that make one doubt their loyalty to the show.
Apparently, the couple left the show since their son was born at the time, and it played a major role in their decision to exit VPR. But Jax mentioned in an interview that he was “very irritable” on the show.
Furthermore, he also added that it was “getting a bit too scripted” for him and wasn’t fun anymore, which played a hand in his exit from the show. All that dragged drama wasn’t easy, and he couldn’t do it anymore, so Jax chose to leave VPR before it was too late.
However, what’s surprising is that in 2018, he was also the one who said that Vanderpump Rules was a real show, and he took pride in the fact that he was a part of this “real show.” It’s shocking to see how his feelings and opinions in terms of the show have changed in a few years, but it’s not new. If one stays at a show long enough, they start seeing things.
Vanderpump Rules: People Stand Firmly With VPR
People remove their rose-colored glasses after enough time has passed, but not all because while Jax might think otherwise, there are cast members who still remain firm on their views.
One such member is Katie Maloney, who once almost said the show was somewhere in the middle of real and scripted. But Katie didn’t clear things up nicely and ended up saying that Vanderpump is a not-scripted, real reality drama with real dramas between real people.
Another person to comment on this topic was Ariana Madix, who voiced her thoughts. She firmly stands her ground that this show isn’t scripted at all.
Although this is an ongoing debate, we can settle it by saying that the show is very much real except for the parts that aren’t. After all, if you are coming to watch a reality show, then there must be some fights and drama to spice things up, and for entertainment purposes, some of these things must be added, lest it gets dull.
