When it comes to Shojo anime, we can’t forget about one of the most popular Shoujo anime, Fruit Basket. Fruit Basket has taught us many aspects of our lives, that we should never give up no matter what state we are in, and that we should all face tomorrow with a smile on our faces.
Fruit Basket is a manga written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. The first chapter of Fruit Basket was serialized back on July 18, 1998, which was later adapted as an anime on July 5, 2001, by Studio Deen.
However, due to not making a proper adaptation of the manga, Takaya didn’t cooperate with the studio, and the anime ended with only 26 episodes. However, later in 2019, Takaya requested a reboot of her anime.
So on April 6, 2019, Fruit Basket was once again animated, but this time, TSM Entertainment took the duty of animating. It was one of the best decisions ever taken since the anime got really popular, and everyone got to experience the masterpiece made by Takaya.
As of 2023, three seasons of Fruit Basket (2019) have been released with a special movie. Since it has been running for a long time since the anime first aired, many fans have been wondering whether the anime has ended or not.
If you are also wondering the same thing, then you don’t have to worry because, in this article, we are going to answer in detail whether Fruit Basket Anime has ended or not. But before knowing the status of the anime, let’s refresh our memory with the beautiful story of Honda Touru.
Plot
The story starts with introducing us to the main character of the show, Honda Tohru, who is living out in the harsh wilderness located near the Ceren family home. On her way to school one day, she stumbles into this family home and encounters the first of many Soma’s.
The one being Sugure soma. Soon, Tohru meets the school celebrity, Yuki Soma, who was also at the house before running off to school. Little did she know this wouldn’t be her last encounter with them.
That night, as she returns to her tent in the woods, the two she met this morning walk right up. She explains that she’s living in the woods because she didn’t want to burden her grandfather while he was renovating his home.
She then begs them to let her stay there until the renovations are complete. While at first denying their offer to stay with them, a landslide forces her to change her mind. The following morning, we meet the third Soma, Kyo.
We soon learned that Kyo and Yuki argue a lot. During one of their arguments, Tohro feels that she must stop them. Unfortunately, Tohru accidentally stumbles into all three Soma’s, revealing the soma curse. She turns Yuki into a rat, Kyo into a cat, and Sugure into a dog.
During the first season, we know the following effects. The curse is premature and affects its users right at birth. The user transforms into their respective animal when embraced by the opposite sex or exposed to extreme stress. Animals of the same type are attracted to the users as well.
After Tohru learns of this curse, she promises to see Sugure and the others that she will keep her lips sealed. This doesn’t stop Yuki from worrying that her memories will be erased by another soma that has not been introduced yet.
Kyo is then transferred to the same school that Tohru and Yuki attend. Before, he was training in solitude instead of attending classes. From here, Tohru and Yuki’s bond grows while the tension between Tohru and Kyo becomes a bit strained.
