You are in the right place to find out. Along with answering the question, we are also going to have a relook at the plotline of the series, so that you can get everything out of the story.
So, Blood on the Tracks, or Chi no Wadachi if you prefer, is a popular manga series from the crime drama section, written and illustrated by Oshimi Shuzo. In a world filled with terrifying, messed up things, especially in the anime and manga industry, it really has to be properly terrified.
I must say that I am pretty used to stories that are supposed to like really mess with your mind and kind of “break you”. The thing is, after eight or nine of those stories, you kind of become numb to the sentiment of it.
However, you can really appreciate what it is capable of doing. Blood on the Track has a very unique ability to really disturb you beyond anything you have ever read.
What Blood on the Tracks Manga Is All About?
I don’t know what part of my mind Oshimi Shuzo, the creator of this manga, has, but he really got me. The manga is centered around the main character, Seiichi Osabe; he is a fairly normal middle schooler who just does his things. He has got a group of friends that kind of rag on him, and you know how it is.
The twist in the story is that his mother is an absolute psychopath. This woman has some serious problems, some serious, serious problems, and you can see how it mentally affects the state of her own child.
The relationship between a mother and son is one that not only connects to me but almost any other human being on the planet.
The really weird and disturbing thing about it, though, is just how the presentation of it takes place.
It really drives you home, and that really is the case with a lot of psychological mangas as they are able to depict things, and they are usually in a relatively abstract manner but are able to drive home the feelings so well, and it is really capable of these insane moments of tension wherever the child feels like he is free from his mother and then for the mother to reappear.
It uses this amazing contrast of bright tones versus the dark ones within the artwork. It is able to give two completely different types of tones yet know how to implement them perfectly and just really drive home the setting and the feel it is trying to go for in that specific scene.
It also does this very exaggerated facial expression at times, the little kid acting like an infant once again and the mother looking like a deranged serial killer.
It really does an amazing job of depicting and manipulative, toxic, and harmful relationship while also making you realize just how important the parental role is in the life of a child.
It is a story with a lot of twists and turns that leave you always wanting more and always wanting to see what will be the final conclusion of the series, as it likes to do that a lot. They will kind of bait you in with these moments of relief, and then bam! Just hits you with absolute madness.
