The Star Wars franchise is big, big enough for no-fans to feel completely lost when they try to catch up with the new storylines that continue to get added to the original Star Wars world. Dave Filoni’s new series called Ahsoka, which aired on Disney+, is one such addition.
The series was launched as a spinoff version of the ongoing show, The Mandalorian, and it follows the story of the character of Ahsoka Tano, who is out to look into and fight the looming threats to the galaxy that have risen since the fall of the Empire.
We know that this series is a part of the Star Wars world, and is intertwined with the timeline of The Mandalorian and other spinoffs that followed the Return of the Jedi string of events and that this new series is a continuation of another animated series from the franchise called, Star wars Rebel.
While you process this information, let us tell you more about the leading cast of Ahsoka. Actress Rosario Dawson is back on our screens with her title role in the series, introduced in the series first for the animation series called Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Dawson was first spotted playing the role in The Mandalorian, but that show did not do justice to her story arc, leading to Ahsoka.
Apart from the beautiful actress, the show has Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, David Tennant, Lars Mikkelsen, and so many others we could go on for a long time.
The story for the character was happening and fast-paced in the show, with Dave Filoni saying that he wanted Ahsoka to focus on the character’s storyline properly instead of throwing obstacles her way.
Throughout the release of its episodes, the show received great compliments for having amazing effects and production quality. The show was praised by critics for being able to find that balance between action and an actual storyline for the character.
The story was compelling, with the original Star Wars vibe maintained well in the episodes; it was soon declared a must-watch for all fans of the franchise. Released on Disney+, the series ended up becoming the most-watched title on the platform, with Part One garnering over fourteen million views in five days after its release.
With fans showing the series so much love, it is only right for them to question if the series is going to continue to become a full-fledged show.
Is Ahsoka Finished?
Creator Dave Filoni made it clear right from the start that the series was not going to turn into a full project, and the man followed through with his words. Before the release of the series, it was announced that Ahsoka was going to be a miniseries for fans to thoroughly enjoy the character.
With a total of eight episodes released on the platform in August 2023, the series released its final episode on October 3rd, 2023. The season ended with cliffhangers and incomplete arcs left hanging loosely, making the fans want a second season.
The ending of the first season left many disappointed by how the producers wrapped Ahsoka’s storyline, with many taking to their social media to rant about how a second season is much wanted.
So, though this was supposed to be a miniseries, we believe the show will have a second season after all. With the way the producers deliberately wrapped the series like that and fans demanding another season, the series is likely to get another season, just not right now.
This is just a speculation based on the loose threads spotted in the show’s finale. And while we assume that a new season will be out sometime in the future, it surely is not even being considered right now.
A second season has not yet been confirmed, and with The Mandalorian, which is currently airing, and The Acolyte, which is set for release next year, the franchise seems to have a lot on its plate already. So, while we do suspect another season to be released in the far future, fans will have to wait for a long time before it becomes a reality.
