Things will start to get troublesome for Shirone as the rift between him and Althor seems to be getting farther and farther. Shirone had come back home to meet his family and tell them how he was faring in the academy. However, from the looks of it, we will see more trouble for him in Infinite Mage Chapter 61.
Shirone had come a long way in the series since he started as a young man with growing ambitions in the action series. He was a little guy who had learned to read early and gotten intrigued by the mysteries of magic since. This led to him going down a path where he would find fulfillment unlike anywhere else in the world.
But, he remains someone who has a hard time fitting in with others, and then some problems come to him for just existing. He has started to get a handle on things on how to deal with things but he is the type to rather not get involved. However, the problems in life are the only ones that he has going on for him.

Infinite Mage Chapter 61 will be the starting point of conflict between Althor and Shirone for the upcoming chapters. The fantasy series protagonist is aware that Althor is insecure at his core and must be treated accordingly. However, every attempt he makes to tamper that is leading to more fuel being added to the fire.
The reason for conflict between the two is rather apparent in this case, Althor and Shirone are in two different leagues. Althor has been the leader of the group ever since he was young, but Shirone is an outlier who stands out. His intelligence is what makes Shirone outstanding and far apart from everyone in the village and even his academy.
Aware that Shirone has what it takes to be the next leader of the guild, Althor is insecure about his future. And thus, he looks for every opportunity to belittle him, but it ends up throwing at his face every time. Or, it could be that there is something else at play that is making things complicated between them.
Recap
Infinite Mage Chapter 60 started with the kids of the village mesmerized by Shirone’s presence as he returned to the village. Everyone was happy to see him back, everyone except Althor who was having some hard feelings. And Shirone realized that, too, thus making sure not to create a situation where he would create trouble between the two.
We are given a little flashback of when Shirone was young and told of by Althor to stop reading books. Shirone then recalls how there was the unspoken rule of following the leader of the group without questioning anything. Shirone knew what denying would do so he put his books down but is then rescued by Lumina, in a way.
We are then brought to the present, where Althor is all grown up and bulkier than most among the villagers. He decided to tease Shiron by taking his book, but this led to a small accident where Shiron recalls a trauma. This then leads to Lumina calling out to Althor for being so rash even though he had just gotten back.
