Based on the life of a fictional girl group named ‘Cotton Candy’. Even six years after its debut, ‘Cotton Candy’ hasn’t found the success they dreamt of and still remains unsuccessful. While another girl group, ‘Mars’ from the same entertainment company, plans to go big considering its success and popularity. The company threatens and plans to disband ‘Cotton Candy’ with a possible last single. The single that can either save the group if made the mark. Or push them towards the end, sending them to go their separate ways if they go missing by the fans.
The girl group ‘Cotton Candy’ consists of five members; Kim Je Na, Hyun Ji, Stella, L, and Chae A. Exid’s Hani will be taking over the role of Kim Je Na, who is fighting to keep her dreams alive. Recently she also appeared as the female lead in k-drama “You Raise Me Up’. Girl group ‘Laboum”s Solbin, will join Hani, playing the role of Hyun Ji. Recently, she appeared in ‘Oh! Master’. While ‘The Witch’s Diner’ fame Han So Eun will be playing the role of Stella. Along with ‘WJSN” EXY playing L and ‘Redsqaure”s Green playing Chae A.
Prince Joo Yang from ‘Lovers of the Red Sky’ aka Kwak Si Yang, is also joining the cast members as Cha Jae Hyeok, the CEO of the entertainment company Starpeace Entertainment. While Kim Min Kyu will be making his debut, playing the role of Seo Ji Han. The member and leader of the successful group ‘Mas’ under the same company. ‘Mars’ is also a five-member group, with Jo Joon Young playing Ray, who is the brightest brain in the group. Hong Eun Ki plays Yool, the affectionate dancer who loves his fans. Baek Seo Hoo plays Tae Young, who is the visuals of the group. Along with Lee Eun Sang playing Dan, the older-looking Maknae of the group. Jung Yoon Jung, famous for her writing in ‘Miseang’, will be the writing while No Jung Chan and Charles Chu will be handling the directing and production.
‘Idol: The Coup’ – Streaming Details & Expectations
Episode 1 of ‘Idol: The Coup’ will release on November 8, 2021. The new episode will be available to watch on the JTBC network, while for the online streaming, viewers can head to the streaming service ‘iQIYI’. The show will have 12 episodes in total. The channel released a sneak peek of the k-drama recently as we see Je Na running through the streets and going through pressure as she struggles to find her way. While a few posters were also released, where we can see the ‘Cotton Candy’ practicing in the studio and heading towards the stage.
Taking a look through the teasers, every member has a story of their own, which we will witness in the show, as all of them fight their way to keep their dream on.
