Recap
Chapter 65 of I Regressed to My Ruined Family opens with the Demon King Diego being notified of the status of the World Tree. The sixth spiritual leader tells him that it had been 70% tainted and the power of the elves will soon deteriorate once the tree is dead.
Hearing this, Diego tells them to prepare for battle. He was confident that even if the elves were to come and attack, there was no use as the Tree had been damaged far too much. He further praises the mana of the Dragonic fruit, responsible for zapping life out of the World Tree.
Telling his people to proceed discreetly as soon as the tree is fully tainted, Diego also tells himself to not go overboard as a prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. While he talks of the prophecy told by the Great Spiritual Leader, the puppet he had falls to the ground.
This alerted him and he immediately summons the Silver Palm Mage Forms. Diego tells him to quickly gather men as the elves were notified of the World Tree’s depleting health. He tells his men to attack all who were coming but also orders to keep them alive.
When the Dragon King, along with his men find not elves but Ethan, he’s shocked. He had never seen the boy before and their intense battle made him anxious as Ethan was overpowering him. He quickly tells his men to back up and retreat before any further damage could be done.
When Archduke Ethan finally reaches inside the fortress with the elves, he is ambushed by Diego and his men, putting them in a solo battle. When, by the end of the chapter, Ethan uses his White flames thinking it would do the trick, Diego had another move up his sleeve.
The Great Spiritual Leader had gifted Diego “the deceptive eye”, which allowed him to control all living beings. Ethan was tricked into believing he had no other move and was now faced with a bigger challenge of becoming Diego’s marionette.
