In the previous chapter of I Don’t Want To Be a Magpie Bridge, Shu-shu had disguised herself when a strange person came up to her and started shaking her, asking if she was Schneeballen.
Shu-shu is scared and confused about how the person managed to find out that she is Schneeballen since she was in disguise, so she decides to pretend not to know who that is.
She says that she was just running an errand for her father and begins crying, hoping to dissuade the person, all while wondering if Ive’s plan had been discovered.
They both head to finish their task, and we see Shu-shu standing in front of a carriage while I’ve rummaged through it. He tells Shu-shu that he is looking for documents about Lulsan Caravan’s investment in human slavery. Shu-shu is confused about why Lulsan Caravan would take such a risk since it is one of the most severe crimes one can commit in the Empire.
Ive says that he made a ghost company and lured the Lulsan Caravan to invest in him after showing tremendous amounts of profit they could gain. However, the documents Ive wanted were not in the carriage, and they realized they needed to go to the secret hideout of Lulsan Caravan to get the document.
Ive tells Shu-shu to go inside the carriage and stay put while he finishes off the people he had knocked unconscious, and Shu-shu feels horrible knowing what Ive is doing. She had not expected Ive to act so morbidly out of all people, but there were things that even she didn’t understand about Ive.
