I Awoke As An Imprisoned Villainess Chapter 1: Recap
Chapter 1 of I Awoke As An Imprisoned Villainess starts off with Lady Violet, Daughter of the Duke of Elford being imprisoned. The scene shifts to her waking up in a bed and she asks where she is. She meets Claude Bradley, the Captain of the First Order and tells her that playing dumb will not help her because even the Duke had given up on her and her actions. Lady Violet appears extremely confused at the unraveling of events as he mentions about the Highness’ fiance.
He tells her again that playing dumb won’t help her and that being her fiance for a while, he knows the acts of stupidity she has performed. He has been ordered to keep an eye out for her so she should not expect any sympathy from him. The Duke has casted a spell in the tower she is at so she cannot leave either. He tells her to repent for her actions by stating her name as ‘Lady Violet’ which takes her aback.
The girl is obviously taken aback because Lady Violet is the most infamous person in the rumors and he must have forgotten his glasses to have mistaken her for that despicable lady. Sophia learns that she is not Sophia anymore but her soul is trapped in Lady Violet’s body when she looks at herself in the mirror. Known as the black sheep and oddball of the family, Sophia’s debut as a budding apothecary was stopped by her stepmother and sister.
Sophia talks about how she can be misjudged because she concocted potions. Her biological mother was a great apothecary but she passed away due to an illness after which, immediately her step-mother had arrived, she was pregnant. It led to Sophia being locked in the store-room. It was as if she was forgotten in her own family. Her mother had left her a book full of medicines which Sophia used tirelessly to create her own medicines.
As Sophia was now Lady Violet, her actions seemed to make everyone feel suspicious and misled. She asked the maid for a rag to clean the floor and was herself sleeping on the floor which took Claude by surprise. The servants are scared because Violet was acting strange. Not letting her baffling side scare the servants anymore, Claude was in charge of bringing her meals, which were all a delicacy. She was not feeling hungry so she wanted to keep the food in the closet so that she could have it in the morning, not realizing that lady Violet had very luxurious meals each day. Of course her actions were making Claude suspicious so he told her to drop the act already.
Lady Violet, the infamous villainess was arrogant and selfish. She would hurl abuses at the servants because she is vicious. While eating her food, Sophia was wondering why Lady Violet would swap places with her. She was planning on telling Claude that they have swapped bodies but no one would believe her. She decides that she will use these three months of confinement to enjoy herself to the fullest.
At his chambers, Claude keeps thinking about the new psychological warfare Violet is using on him. Neil Harvey comes in and tells him that maybe she is trying to mend her ways. However, he realizes that Violet has never acted so impulsively in public until she doused wine on the crown prince and made his fiance bow to her. He never understood her actions that day.
They both discussed how she fainted before entering the tower. However, the doctor said that she fainted due to the stress of the situation. Claude does not believe that because he knows that before entering the tower, Violet looked pleased but the moment she woke up, she became a different person. Meanwhile, Sophia discovers that there is a cryptic code hidden inside Violet’s bracelet which warns her to not even put a scratch on her body while also granting her a life of luxury. In the end of the chapter we see, Sophia’s house and Violet’s soul inside Sophia’s body.
