The wait is finally over. In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked has dropped its first anime trailer, showcasing the series for the very first time. Alongside the preview, the official website revealed the main voice cast and announced that the anime will debut on AT-X in January 2027.

Originally launched as an R18 web novel on Nocturne Novels in 2013, I Am the Only One Who Is Not Attacked in the World Filled With Zombies has spent more than a decade building a dedicated fanbase. Now, the long-running zombie survival story is finally making a television debut. However, fans will have to wait a little longer, as the anime’s release has been delayed from its originally planned 2026 premiere to January 2027.
What Is In a World Full of Zombies I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked About?
The series takes place in a world suddenly overrun by zombies, but there is one unusual twist: the protagonist, Takemura, is the only person the zombies refuse to attack. Instead of using this mysterious ability to fight the undead and save humanity, Takemura chooses to live according to his own desires, setting the story apart from most zombie-themed anime and novels.
According to the Steam description for the adult visual novel adaptation, I Walk Among Zombies, Yusuke is a lonely office worker who develops a deep dislike of people and becomes a shut-in after his company goes bankrupt. His immunity to zombies turns what could have been a typical survival story into a much more complex and morally gray tale.
From Web Novel to Anime: The Series’ Long Journey
I Am the Only One Who Is Not Attacked in the World Filled With Zombies began as a web novel on the R18 fiction platform Nocturne Novels in 2013. The series later received a print novel release in 2016, featuring illustrations by Saburou and published under Frontier Works’ Nox Novels label.
Since then, the franchise has expanded with a manga adaptation illustrated by Chihiro Masuda and an adult visual novel series developed by Seacoxx. With novels, manga, and games already under its belt, the series had built a strong multimedia presence long before its anime adaptation was officially announced.
Meet the Anime’s Creative Team
The anime is being directed by Kazuya Fujishiro and produced by Acca effe in collaboration with Frontier Engine. The production team appears to be a strong fit for the series’ mature themes, while Frontier Engine’s involvement also reflects the franchise’s long-standing connection to Frontier Works, the publisher behind its print novels since their debut.
Meet the Anime’s Main Voice Cast
Wataru Kato will voice the protagonist, Yusuke Takemura, while Yuno Azuma has been cast as the heroine, Mitsuki Fujino. Based on the newly released teaser visual, Mitsuki’s relationship with Yusuke appears to be central to the anime’s emotional and character-driven narrative.
A Unique Story With a Dedicated Fanbase
What makes the Zombie no Afureta Sekai anime stand out is its unique take on the zombie genre. Instead of focusing on survival, teamwork, or humanity’s struggle during an apocalypse, I Am the Only One Who Is Not Attacked in a World Filled With Zombies follows a self-centered protagonist who finds himself in a situation unlike anyone else’s.
Yusuke Takemura, a former office worker, sees his life change overnight when the world is suddenly overrun by zombies. However, for some reason, he is the only person whom zombies refuse to attack. With no fear of becoming their next victim, Takemura is free to navigate the apocalypse on his own terms, leading to a story that differs from most zombie-themed anime.
The anime has officially dropped its teaser trailer, and it’s confirmed for a Winter 2027 premiere. Production is now in full swing, and fans of the original novel and visual novel series finally have something exciting to watch.
