The third annual Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) 2026 has officially begun its countdown by revealing its first major hosts.
On March 17, 2026, the organizing committee announced that MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and IVE’s Rei will take the stage as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for Day 1 of the prestigious event.
This pairing brings together two prominent generations of Starship Entertainment talent, promising a unique chemistry that bridges the gap between established K-pop veterans and the leaders of the new generation.
A Global Celebration at the Belluna Dome
The ASEA 2026 is scheduled to take place over two days, May 16 and 17, at the iconic Belluna Dome in Saitama, Japan.
Since its inception in 2024, ASEA has rapidly grown into a cornerstone of the awards season, focusing on artists who have exerted significant cultural influence across Asia and the broader global market.
The choice of venue in Japan underscores the event’s commitment to the Pan-Asian music scene, providing a massive stage for high-quality performances and grand-scale award presentations.
The organizers expressed high expectations for the hosting duo, stating:
“The Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) 2026 has revealed its first MC lineup! On March 17, the 3rd Asia Star Entertainer Awards announced that MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and IVE’s Rei will be the hosts for the first day of the upcoming awards ceremony on May 16.”
By selecting Hyungwon and Rei, the awards show aims to leverage their diverse skill sets- Hyungwon with his seasoned hosting experience and Rei with her charisma and fluency in both Korean and Japanese- to engage the international audience effectively.

Bridging Generations: The Host Duo’s Synergy
The selection of Hyungwon and Rei is particularly significant for fans of Starship Entertainment, as it represents a rare collaborative moment between a member of one of the most successful third-generation boy groups and a key figure in the record-breaking fourth-generation girl group, IVE.
- Hyungwon (MONSTA X): Known for his sophisticated visuals and calm, professional demeanor, Hyungwon has previously proved his hosting prowess on various music programs and variety shows. His involvement brings a sense of stability and experience to the large-scale event.
- Rei (IVE): As a member of IVE, who have recently swept various charts with their latest wins, Rei brings a fresh and energetic perspective. Her ability to connect with the Japanese audience in their native language is expected to be a major asset for an event being held in Saitama.
The production team commented on the significance of the awards show:
“Launched in 2024, ASEA has become a global awards show that recognizes artists with influence across Asia and worldwide while showcasing high-quality performances.”
With Day 1’s hosting lineup now confirmed, fans are eagerly awaiting further announcements regarding the MCs for Day 2 and the final performance lineup.
Currently, groups like ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, and Stray Kids are already making waves on global charts, leading to intense speculation about which artists will grace the ASEA stage this May.
The ceremony is set to be a highlight of the spring season, celebrating the continued global expansion of Asian music and entertainment.
