Singer and actress Hyeri is set to don a school uniform again in her upcoming series, ‘Friendly Competition,’ as officially confirmed on February 6 KST. Well, ‘Friendly Competition,’ adapted from the popular webtoon, follows Seulgi, who transfers to an elite girls’ high school in Seoul after her father’s sudden demise.
As she forms a bond with Jae Yee, the class’s top student and a commanding presence, she delves into Jae Yee’s enigmatic persona. This psychological thriller, commonly referred to as a GL (Girl Love) narrative, unravels the enigma surrounding a perplexing demise.
Hyeri embodies the character of Yoo Jae Yee, portrayed as possessing a high IQ and extraordinary talents, despite diverging from conventional beauty norms.
Unlike Woo Seul Gi, who endured bullying, Yoo Jae Yee garners envy from those around her. The series depicts the captivating evolution of these two characters, as they navigate a journey of tentative affection amidst doubt and mutual apprehension, bonded by shared anguish.
‘Friendly Competition’ is poised to challenge norms by delving into the lives of teenagers confronting a spectrum of addictions, addressing mature themes like drugs, self-harm, and masturbation. With its daring content, the series earns a 19+ rating. Esteemed writer Kim Tae Hee crafts the screenplay.
Apart from her involvement in ‘Friendly Competition,’ Hyeri anticipates the release of the film ‘Victory’ and is actively participating in the filming of ‘Tropical Night.’
