Tom Jones- Premise
The series will be a rendition of History Of Tom Jones: A Foundling, which tells the tale of a love story set in a prejudiced society. Tom is a passionate young man who has a knack for seducing young beautiful women. Tom is someone who courts ladies who are way above his league in the social system of Britain.
The society of Britain set in 1745 had a hierarchy that one had to follow to marry or fall in love with no trouble. Tom’s views and life changed when Sophia, a young beautiful, girl entered his life, and Tom took it upon himself to court her. He does everything possible to make Sophia fall in love with him, but it turns out that Sophia is out of his league. Sophia is a young heiress under a guise and is set to be with Mr. Blifil, a wealthy man.
In a turn of events, Tom gets falsely accused of a crime he didn’t do and ends up losing the love and respect of Sophia. Daniel Righby, a schoolteacher, befriends Tom on his journey to make his place in the world. The first episode witnessed Sophia and Tom hitting it off and befriending each other despite their contrasting background.
Molly complicates the story of Tom and Sophia. The second episode witnessed Tom getting banished by Allworthy while Sophia ran away from her wedding with Blifil. The adventure for Tom and Sophia begins with two coincidental encounters at two inns. The third episode witnessed Tom getting lured into a masquerade by a paramour.
Bilif and a lord try to compromise Sophia between them, and complications develop between everyone involved. The last episode witnessed Tom’s letter to Lady Bellaston threatening to sink his prospects with Sophia. A swordfight between him and Bilif puts Tom in further trouble.
