Lena Waithe’s American Drama, The Chi follows the lives of residents that live on the South Side of Chicago. Showtime started airing The Chi back on January 7th, 2018.
This coming-of-age series takes us through the eventful lives of its relatable characters like Kevin, Emmett, and others, who seem to be connected as they live in the same community. The new season, set to premiere on August 6th, 2023, will be following The Chi’s now grown-up protagonists into the next venture of their lives, which for Emmett is his new business and for Kevin is his newfound freedom.
Cast members we’ll be seeing in The Chi’s season 6 include Jacob Latimore in the role of Emmett, Alex R Hilbert as Kevin, and Curtiss Cook as Douda. Birgundi Baker (Kiesha), Luke James, Michael V. Epps, and Shamon Brown Jr. (Papa), will also likely be full-time cast members for season 6.
The Chi Season 5: What Happened In The Previous Season?
The 5th season of The Chi began airing on June 26th, 2022, with the first episode being titled “Overnight Celebrity“. We see Emmett trying his best to get his and Tiff’s relationship back on track, but Tiff has something else in mind.
Jada and Suede go through a turbulent relationship too, as Suede wants to take things further with marriage but Jada didn’t really want that yet. Kiesha is all set to start a new life with her son. Trip hopes to make living easier for those from his community and comes up with a plan to protect it.
By episode three of The Chi, Emmett, and Kiesha start bonding over the fact that both of them were single parents and had to manage co-parenting with their parents. Tiff finds love in Rob, and after spending the holiday together, they seem to get closer than ever before.
Papa and Bakari become friends and this troubles many. Kiesha and Emmett eventually start to feel better about each other since they both went through similar situations, causing them to get into a relationship. Kevin gets deeply interested in gaming competitions and he has to start balancing this hobby of his with his love life.
After Emmett supports Jada in her plans, Kiesha and Tiff are busy coming to a proper decision. The season ends with Trig making a huge change in his life that had the potential to change his situation significantly.
