The popular South Korean apocalyptic zombie horror, action, and sci-fi drama series Sweet Home Season 2 is back to thrill you this December. Moreover, it is one of the most popular K-drama series on Netflix, which announced its return on 01 November 2023.
Talking about the second season, Cha Hyun-Su and the Green Home survivors will return to struggle to survive in new places and fight new mysterious challenges. Only viewers over eighteen must watch it as it contains violence and profanity.
The main cast members in the upcoming series are Song Kang as Cha Hyun Soo, Lee Jin Wook as Pyeon Sang Wook, Lee Si Young as Seo Yi Kyung, Park Gyu Young as Yoon Ji Su, Go Min Si as Lee Eun Yoo, Yoo Oh Sung as Tak In Hwan, and Oh Jung Se as Dr. Lim.
Netflix announced the second season in June 2022, and filming wrapped up in Spring 2023. Moreover, the streaming platform has announced the third season, where we can assume that the sky will be the limit for the makers.
Ending Explained
Sweet Home Season 1 was an international hit. Sang-Wook tried to help Yu Ri but died in his own pool of blood. However, the makers brought a twist, and Sang-Wook drove the military van where Cha Hyun Soo was getting back to his senses.
Yi Kyung collaborated with the military to find Hyun Soo, who would further help her find her fiancé. Meanwhile, the military cannot ensure the safety of only a bunch of survivors because they can turn into monsters at any time.
Eun Hyuk was a responsible stepbrother who wanted to keep his family and sister together. Viewers still wonder whether he died because he bled like an infected person and was buried underneath the debris in the apartment. Let us see whether his regenerative abilities or metamorphosis helped him.
Synopsis
Cha Hyun-Su and the Green Home Apartment survivors escape their base and find shelter in a baseball stadium, where they must face the inner monsters created by their desires while fighting with the outer ones.
According to the director Lee Eung-bok, the characters in the first season struggled only in Green Home, but the second season will contain some new characters and monsters facing each other in an open space. They must escape the Green Home and undergo major changes.
Sweet Home Season 1 was inspired by a webtoon of the same name by Hwang Young Chan and Kim Carnby, while the second season will be an expansion of the original webtoon, and the makers will have more to work on. Cha Hyun-Su was the protagonist in the first season, but the second raises the question of whether he is really a savior.
The question arises because a mysterious character takes Hyun-Su to a strange place in a cage and orders him what to do. On the other hand, the survivors create a community in the baseball stadium and fight with the inner and outer monsters.
According to an Instagram post by Go Min-si, the filming for the second and the third seasons wrapped up together before March 2023. @kdramatreats shared a wrap-up party video on Twitter where the cast members sliced the cake together.
