The CMT Awards is set to return to Austin this Sunday night, with the ceremony scheduled to be held at the city’s Moody Center. The event will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. on the east coast and tape-delayed to the same hour on the west coast. Additionally, viewers can stream the ceremony live or on-demand via Paramount+.
The awards show boasts a remarkable five-way tie for the most nominations leading up to the 2024 telecast.
Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, and the show’s host, Kelsea Ballerini, have each secured three nods apiece.
The lineup of nominees for the prestigious top prize, Video of the Year, is notably stacked with 16 contenders initially presented to fans for the first round of voting.
This pool was narrowed down to six before the second round earlier this month, and will ultimately be further reduced to a top three as additional voting unfolds on show day.
Jelly Roll secures triple nominations for his chart-topper “Need a Favor,” in the categories of Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year, the latter for his rendition of the song at the 2023 CMT Awards.
Ballerini joins the fray with “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” vying for Video of the Year, “Penthouse” contending for Female Video of the Year, and her live rendition of “If You Go Down” in the running for CMT Performance of the Year. This year marks Ballerini’s fourth and final stint as the host of the award show.
The star-studded event will also feature an array of amazing performances. Bailey Zimmerman, Keith Urban, and Sam Hunt are slated to grace the stage, alongside nominees Wilson, Jelly Roll, and Ballerini.
