“Mech Cadets,” a new 3D animated series coming to Netflix, was originally a 12-issue Boom! Studios comic book series for elementary-aged children that was published between 2017 and 2018.
The new 10-episode adaptation is now scheduled to begin streaming internationally on August 10, 2023, thanks to Polygon Pictures Inc., a Japanese animation studio. Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa, two well-known AAPI creators, have had their popular “Mech Cadet Yu” comic book series adapted for television. Following a young guy named Stanford Yu, who works as a caretaker at the Sky Corps Military Academy, the series is set fifty years in the future.
However, he has always desired to control Robo Mech, the massive space robot that saved us. When Stanford and his classmates finally have the chance to defend humanity from a new extraterrestrial invasion, they will need to put their differences aside and work as a team.
Stanford Yu, the outcast youngster working in sanitation at Sky Corps who aspires to be a Robo Pilot, will be portrayed by Brandon Soo Hoo. General Aiden Park, the battle-wounded head of Sky Corps Academy and the Mech Cadet program, is portrayed by Daniel Dae Kim.
Dolly Yu, Stanford’s controlling mother, and the janitorial staff’s boss, is portrayed by Ming-Na Wen. Former robot pilot Chief Max, head of engineering at Sky Corp and an older mentor to the cadets is voiced by Debra Wilson.
