Hard Knocks has established itself as a mainstay of the NFL preseason, offering unrivaled access to an NFL team as they get ready for the regular season. However, Hard Knocks: In Season with the Miami Dolphins adds a new dimension to the popular docuseries, taking viewers inside an NFL locker room as the season progresses.
Hard Knocks is doing an in-season series for the third season; it has previously covered the seasons of the Arizona Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts. Can the Miami Dolphins break the trend that neither of those teams made it to the postseason? Prepare yourself for a unique, almost real-time glimpse inside what goes on with an NFL club during the intensely competitive regular season.
Plot Of The Show
You’re familiar with the routine if you’ve watched Hard Knocks. The Dolphins grant camera crews unprecedented access to their locker room, practice area, and game fields so they may document the team’s activities as they attempt to qualify for the playoffs and finish the 2023 NFL season. Viewers should also get a peek inside the off-field lives of the Dolphins’ coaches and players.
The episodes will follow the Dolphins from their pregame routine for the Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders (you can watch the NFL on CBS to watch the game live) to their regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills.
The eighteen-time Emmy-winning series will present its trademark all-access coverage, following the Miami Dolphins, who are currently atop the AFC East and are led by second-year head coach Mike McDaniel, as they strive to make it back to the NFL playoffs and get through the remaining eight games of the regular season.
Every Tuesday between November 21 and January 9—that is, until the Dolphins’ Week 18 finale against the Buffalo Bills—new episodes air. In advance of their November 19 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, camera crews will start filming the team in real-time.
This will give fans a close-up look at their exciting offense, which features players like wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and running back Raheem Mostert, as well as their strong defense, which is led by players like Christian Wilkins, Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, Xavien Howard, Jalen Ramsey, and Jevon Holland.
Recap
Hard Knocks: In Season With the Miami Dolphins debuted on November 21 and followed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, head coach Mike McDaniel, and the team for the duration of the campaign. The Arizona Cardinals had the distinction of being on the show the previous season, followed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2021.
After losing to the Buffalo Bills on October 1, Miami has won four of its previous six games. Miami most recently defeated the Las Vegas Raiders, 20–13. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Tagovailoa top the league in yards per game and points scored. Thus, McDaniel’s offense will probably steal the show early and often.
Since making a comeback from a preseason knee injury, Jalen Ramsey has made three interceptions in three games for the defense. Vic Fangio’s defense, which has five guys with at least four sacks this season, hasn’t let up more than 21 points as a unit since Week 5.
You will ultimately feel uneasy, whether it’s from a three-game losing streak or from seeing cameras everywhere. McDaniel expressed his excitement about becoming a part of the show and vowed to remain true to himself the entire time.
