Bringing you the essence of Chicago once again is the series Chicago Party Aunt, created by Chris Witaske, Katie Rich, and Jon Barinholtz. The show’s first season has received positive views all around, and the creators have decided to add another part to the show.
The series revolves around the lives of Chicago aunt Diane Dunbrowski and her nephew, Daniel. Diane is the classic stereotypical aunt from Wrigleyville, Chicago, whose policy in life is to party whenever she can and never take things too seriously. At times, we also have a look into her heart, which shows that she’s a good person despite her careless attitude.
Chicago Party Aunt has an interesting story behind its origin. Creator Chris Witaske had a Twitter account where he would post random tweets pretending to be a Chicago aunt. Although it started as a joke, the account soon grew in popularity.
It was only after producers contacted Chris and decided to make a show based on the Twitter account. It premiered on September 17th, 2021, with the news of another part in the making. The second part of the season will be aired this week.
Chicago Party Aunt: Season 2’s Voice Actors
Most of the show’s voice actors are comedians, actors, and internet personalities. The main character, Diane, is voiced by Lauren Ash. Lauren hails from Ontario, but she manages to perfectly voice her character.
Her work mostly includes Canadian Movies and Television series such as Almost Heroes and Lost Girls. Lauren has won many awards, one of which is the Canadian Screen award, for her role in the sitcom named Spun Out.
Rory O’Malley voices Diane’s nephew Daniel. Born in Ohio, Rory began his television career through a role on On The Run (2004). Being Gay, he is the perfect person to voice Daniel, as he is gay as well. Daniel has strict parents, but to find his true self, he decides to take a year off and stay with his carefree aunt.
RuPaul Charles of RuPaul’s Drag Race also voices one of the actors (Gideon). Other voice actors that we’ll be hearing this season include Jill Talley, Ike Barinholtz, Jon Barinholtz (Mikey), Katie Rich (Zuzana), and Chris Wake (Kurt).
