The island had legends and eerie myths about mysterious beings, which the islanders called Mitama, roaming the place, along with rumors of dragons residing somewhere on the islands as well.
But the sudden death of his father leaves Yukito alone, so he decides to leave the island and move to Tokyo. And during one of his mundane and slow days in Tokyo that he bumps into one of his father’s students, who looks strangely familiar to him. Turns out that this disciple named Jingi Sagawa was actually a childhood friend of Yukito, who never left the island, unlike Yukito.
Sagawa somehow persuades Yukito to visit the island once again and manages to drag him back to where he was born. The island seems to have not changed at all. Yukito also meets with some friends and students of his father’s. They stayed back on the islands because they had to protect their peace and harmony.
