What is Dire of Mire?
Dire of Mire Quest is the main man of Diablo 4. We mean the main quest in the game.
The quest starts after you cross the Serpentine Path at the Venom-Drenched Path. You need to reach the southernmost region and stop the moment you see a waterlogged and swampy marshland. East of this land you will find a snake blocking your way. Beware!
To move forward, you will have to defeat it. Strike the slithering reptile and move North. You will see a lot of trees. Don’t get us wrong, it won’t be lush green. Instead, you will spot all dead, brown, and dry trees and plants.
Unfortunately, you will have to get these out of the way too. Chop ‘em off. You basically need to get rid of anything that comes your way while you are heading to the Challenging Shrine.
One of the last two things that will block your will should be the lost person. Oh, poor soul. And finally, you need to defeat Nikola before activating the Shrine.
Once activated, Neyrelle will start moving to the Swamp of Vanished Sould through the Voiceless Grove. And voila! Here on, the next quest begins.

What is The Dire of Mire Quest Bug?
There comes a point in Diablo IV when chasing and attacking the snake at the swamp, you will repeatedly run into this strange Dire of Mire bug. What is supposed to happen is, according to the quest presets, Neyrelle and Lorath have to be following you.
If Lorath or Neyrelle just freeze motionless. Not a single movement. And if they refuse to move, it often happens that you keep exploring the simulation, wandering mindlessly. Until all of a sudden, you turn and realize that Lorath discontinued following you after the initial parkour.
How to Solve the Dire or Mire Bug?
The easiest way is to leave and re-enter. That is correct. Exit the vicinity and restart the scenario by entering again. Because you can’t go ahead unless the characters are following you. So, you might as well try the turn-it-off and on-again method.
You can also try to restart Diablo IV and give the game’s mission another shot. Everyone deserves a second chance! So, retry. Maybe you do much better this time?
Lastly, you could also try getting your friend to play. A friend who has completed the mission. Ask him/her to create a party and let you in. This might get your characters to follow you as well. But this would mean your pal has to restart/ redo the quest.
Talk it out, get on board with them and clear this together if they are chill! Who does not love a good gaming session with their friends?
