Today, I review Vikings Valhalla, a Netflix spinoff of History Channel’s Vikings. While the original one explored the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, this Netflix version takes place over a century after Ragnar’s exploits.
If you like Vikings, Game of Thrones, and The Witcher, you’ll love this one. And I hope that after reading this review, you’ll be as enticed to watch it as I was when I first saw the series and then when I had to write this piece.
So, basically, Vikings Valhalla, a work by Jeb Stewart, has all the elements of the original Vikings; that being said, it has Vikings, it has political tension, it has the conflict of Christianity and Paganism, and it also has some historical accuracy to tell you the story.
As I said in my review of Vikings, this is a fair warning to the nerds who idiotically claim, rant, and rave that “Vikings” isn’t an accurate portrayal of what happened.
I’ll say it again: It’s an adaptation of a story, and you’re supposed to be entertained by it, not substitute the kind of historical accuracy you’d be expected to learn from a teacher behind a lectern at a university classroom by streaming some Netflix series. That being said, let’s get into it.
How Many Seasons Are There In Vikings Valhalla?
Vikings Valhalla has had two seasons so far. The debut season kicked off in February 2022 with an eight-episode run, followed by the sophomore season in January 2023 with an eight-episode run.

Is It Worth Watching?
Here are my honest thoughts about Viking Valhalla, and I just have to get one thing out of the way. Diversity is killing shows. Black Jarl is just wrong if you’re trying to put out a show about Vikings.
For those who complain —to the degree of bitching— about historical accuracy, a Black Jarl isn’t the way to go. But that’s the same crowd who bitched about “Dunkirk” not having any black actors. Diversity isn’t a strength. It’s a capricious way of the Hollywood hostile elites to demean European aspects.
Setting that aside, let’s delve into the captivating world of Vikings Valhalla, a series worth the watch. Transport yourself over a thousand years ago, precisely in the early 11th century, when the stage is set for an exhilarating journey.
Brace yourself to witness the heroic escapades of Leif Erickson, the legendary Viking explorer famous for his audacity, alongside his fierce and indomitable sister Frieda, and the ambitious Nordic prince Herald, all of whom are destined to etch their names in history.
During this tumultuous era, when the Vikings and the English viewed each other with disdain and mistrust, religious beliefs further fueled the tensions between them. Christianity clashed with ancient Pagan customs, intensifying the power struggle and political machinations of the medieval world.
As alliances crumble and loyalties waver, survival becomes the ultimate goal, and this enthralling tale unravels with a flurry of intense hack-and-slash battles interwoven with intricate medieval politickings.
Indulge yourself in this expanding saga, filled with larger-than-life characters, monumental conflicts, and ever-twisting narratives that promise to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Vikings Valhalla takes you on an extended voyage into the annals of history, offering a mesmerizing blend of action, drama, and intrigue. Get ready to embark on an epic adventure like no other, where the past comes alive and the fates of these extraordinary heroes hang in the balance.
A Bit Different From The Original Vikings
“Vikings: Valhalla” distinguishes itself from its predecessor, “Vikings,” by presenting a distinct tone, story, and structure, thanks to the collaboration of multiple talented writers and directors. Yet, in this new series, the essence of the Viking world is still beautifully captured, offering a balanced and captivating viewing experience.
It is important to note that while “Vikings: Valhalla” may not delve into Norse history like a university lecture, it is undeniably crafted to entertain and immerse you in its thrilling narrative. So sit back, relax, and get ready for a Viking adventure like no other!
