Below Deck is a reality unscripted show that takes us to the world of yachting, sailing, and high-level sea entertainment. We see all aspects of what it means to run a yacht or a sailboat. We meet the captain and their crew, we see what they do, and we learn both the professional responsibilities that come with it as well as the nautical shenanigans that make the show hook-worthy.
They say that those who buy a boat have two days of happiness: The day of the purchase and the day they sell it. And from what you can see when you watch Below Deck, you can understand why.
It’s a lot of work and a lot of things to deal with, from living with complete strangers who each have their own personality quirks to dealing with guests that sometimes can be a pest to serve.
What Is Below Deck?
Below Deck is an immensely popular show that started airing on Bravo around a decade ago. With an impressive ten seasons under its belt and a couple of highly successful spinoffs, this captivating series takes viewers on a fascinating journey through the picturesque world of luxury beach destinations. However, what truly sets the show apart is its unique window into the lives, work, and relationships of those living and working inside these glamorous vessels.
Each season introduces a fresh and captivating cast, providing us with exciting storylines and intriguing dynamics. For instance, in season five, we witnessed a crew of relatively inexperienced members navigates the challenges of handling a massive vessel, highlighting the human aspect of their journey.
Meanwhile, season four offered a tantalizing glimpse into love and lust, showcasing the captivating relationship between Chef Ben and Kelley Johnson. And who could forget the charm and wit of Kate as she wowed audiences during the debut season?
Moreover, each season brings something slightly different to the table, showcasing unique boats and their exquisite interiors. From the majestic Honor to the inviting Ohana, as well as the alluring Eros and the iconic Valor (which has made its presence felt three times), the show treats viewers to a visual feast.
And let’s not forget about the elegant My Seanna, which has also graced the screen with its stunning presence three times, and the luxurious St. David. With its captivating storytelling and stunning visuals, Below Deck has managed to carve out a special place in the hearts of viewers worldwide. So, if you’re ready to embark on a truly unforgettable journey, join the crew as they set sail into the enchanting world of high-end luxury and all the drama that comes with it.

Is It Worth Watching?
Opinions on reality shows, especially those centered around boating and yachting, vary greatly. There are several factors to consider when determining whether it’s your cup of tea.
If you enjoy witnessing affluent individuals engaging in excessive behavior, displaying a lack of tact towards service staff, observing a promiscuous crew involved in scandalous activities below deck, and witnessing a captain’s unwavering commitment to professionalism and business reputation, then this show might be right up your alley.
Personally, I find Below Deck to lack substance and surprises. It falls into the category of shows where it wouldn’t be surprising to witness the crew and guests engaging in illicit activities amidst the turbulent waves of the sea.
While the captain strives to maintain composure, I prefer to invest my time in more captivating and engaging entertainment options within the vast array of choices available.
However, the ten seasons of the show and its spinoffs are undeniable proof of its success. When all is said and done, you have the remote, and you have the power to decide if the show is worth your time or not. Don’t let anyone else decide for you because in times like these, there are many shows to choose from.
