House of the Dragon Episode 9 gave us so much deja vu at how it was once Varys in the Red Keep as the Master of Whisperers. He was the one who knew everything around the whole city, the whole of Westeros, and even across the Narrow Sea. The man was truly a journalist by nature. Well, House of the Dragon is laying the foundation for his network and how it all works in the same way. As if revealed by Larys Strong to the Queen, he talks about how there is a whole bunch of people who are revealing this information outside to one person (The White Worm).
We see that Aegon was missing because he was desperately trying to hide from the Kingsguard, who wanted to make him King despite his wishes. Although, only one person knew his whereabouts, and it was The White Worm. While searching for the young Prince, his Kingsguard is approached by a teenage girl who claims she knows the whereabouts of Prince Aegon, but for that, they will have to meet with her mistress. Initially, they do not pay any heed to her, but later, when the hours are getting late, and even Ser Otto is desperate, they try to negotiate with The White Worm.
In return for his whereabouts, Mysaria says that she wants the Hand to stop the child abuse taking place in the city where hundreds of innocent children die every day. Otto says that he will look into the matter. Mysaria claims that The Crown shall always be debited to her because of their conversation and to remember her courtesy. This was how exactly Varys used to trade information in return for favors. So, let us understand how House of the Dragon might bring back Varys’ legacy from Game of Thrones.
How Will House Of The Dragon Bring Back Varys’ Legacy From Game Of Thrones?
We know that Varys used to operate all of his information from the little birds. These little birds were actually children who kept an eye on the entire realm and even the news from across the Narrow Sea and told Varys. Well, there was a brief moment when Varys opened up about his story with Tyrion. He talked about how when he was a little kid, a man abducted him and made him a eunuch. Varys does not have a noble birth and comes from a poor family. And after he was abducted, the man was left with nothing but his knowledge and connections, which he used to rise above and get his place among the royals of the Red Keep.
Mysaria has a similar story. We know that she was born across the narrow sea and most probably was trafficked to Westeros when she was young. Back in the initial episodes, we see her talking to Daemon about how she wants to feel safe because she has always been on the run and powerless all her life. And when Daemon puts her on the spot, saying to the royals that she is pregnant with his child, it obviously puts her in the danger zone and in the direct eyes of people with power who can hurt her.
Mysaria, As The Mistress Of Whisperers
Fast forward to episode 9, and we see that Mysaria is well-established and working as The White Worm. The woman has a heart, just like Varys did, and is trying to make a difference in the corrupt city of King’s Landing by using her knowledge as collateral. Well, we did see that Larys has burnt her home, and it is in the future episodes that we will get to understand how her story is going to shape up. Although, if she has indeed died, then we might see someone else taking her place, maybe the girl who was helping her in the first place.
