Manga enthusiasts have something exciting to look forward to this summer, thanks to the creator of Horimiya. Recently, Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits announced a new series, and Hiroki Adachi, also known as Hero, is at the helm. Hero, alongside Imaru Adachi, is set to release a special short manga.
The upcoming three-chapter mini-series, titled The Light that Shines on Me is My Brother’s Face, will be published between June 3rd and June 17th overseas. While specific details about the series remain scarce, it’s clear the story will show themes of brotherhood and the intricate bond between siblings.
For those unfamiliar with the creators, Hero gained fame with Horimiya, a beloved high school romance. Imaru Adachi, on the other hand, is known for overseeing the Kadokawa adaptation of Higehiro: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway.
Horimiya fans can enjoy the series in English, courtesy of Yen Press, and its popular anime adaptation is available to stream on Crunchyroll. If you haven’t watched Horimiya yet, here’s a quick synopsis:
Horimiya follows the story of Kyouko Hori, a smart, attractive, and popular high school student, and her classmate Izumi Miyamura, who is often seen as a gloomy, boring “loser fanboy.”
However, when a tattooed and pierced Miyamura unexpectedly shows up at Hori’s house, the two discover there are many hidden sides to every person. This sweet and heartwarming tale of school life highlights that people are often more than they seem.
