Honzuki No Gekokujou is the story of a young woman of name Motosu Urano who had a love for reading. After much effort, she was able to secure her dream job as a librarian at the local library. Being around books brought her soo much joy. She had finally her goal. She had a dream of being buried in books but little did she know her wish was about to come true.
Her town was hit by an earthquake and the books she tressured soo much fell on her. In the end, it was the one thing she loved more than life that took her life. However, this was not the end of Motosu Urano. Urano woke up in a strange house, a strange bed, and in a stranger’s body. After a while, the memories of the body started flowing into her mind.
The body belonged to a little 5 Year Old called Myne. Myne had a frail body and was often bedridden. As she was being crushed by her books she asked God to put her into a world where she can read to her heart’s content. However, in this world literature was something that was reserved for the nobles. And books were so rare that most people don’t even know about their existence.
It was hard for Myne to come to terms with her new life. However, she was determined to make a difference. If she wasn’t allowed to read books she would make her own. By reading a lot of books in her past life Myne was very knowledgeable about a lot of things. She used her knowledge to help her family with chores and even make a version of paper to write on.
Since her family was poor they were not able to paper much less a book. With her older sister Turi’s help she gathered wild grass to make Papyrus like in Ancient Egypt. However, as time went by she was able to prove her worth to the Temple. She became an apprentice Blue Priestess. Now she has access to all the books she will ever need in her life.
Honzuki No Gekokujou Manga Recap
Even though it was by accident Myne ran into the kids the Gray Priestess gave birth to. The kids who are yet to go through the baptism. Their conditions are worse than you could imagine. They have been neglected to the point they don’t even look human anymore. Myne was soo shocked by their appearance that she collapsed to the ground and even lost consciousness.
The condition of the children was just so horrible. With some help from Fran, she decides to do something about them. She contacts the Chief Priest first however, he does not see anything wrong with how these children are treated. Therefore, Myne is forced to come up with something out of the box. After discussing with Lutz and then Benno she came up with a plan.
Myne plans to become the director of the Orphanage. That way she will be able to pay close attention to them. Then she will be making all of them her attendees. This way they can leave the temple premises and forge for food. Furthermore, she plans to convert the basement into one of her workshops and hire the children to work there. This way they can earn a wage.
She presents her idea to the Chief Priest. He takes her to a secret room in his chambers. A room that can only be accessed by magic. This way they will have the utmost privacy. She lays down all her plans for the children and to her surprise the chief priest agrees. He explains how he is someone of similar origin to Myne and therefore cannot afford to annoy the Head Priest.
The Chief Priest agrees to handle the backlash for her. The children of Gray Priests are a touchy subject for the Temple after all. With his approval, Myne successfully took on the position of the Director of the Orphanage. She exits the room to see Lutz and Gil waiting outside patiently. They run to her and she shares the news with all of them. Then we see Delia looking annoyed.
Honzuki No Gekokujou Chapter 43 Spoilers & Predictions
Delia doesn’t seem too pleased with what Myne is doing. We do not know her personal feelings about the situation. One would assume she would sympathize with the kids since she too was like them once. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Hopefully, she won’t snitch on them to the Head Priest. At this point, he is the only person who can throw a wrench at their plans.
