The upcoming anime adaptation of Mayu Murata’s Honey Lemon Soda manga has revealed its key visual, main cast, and first promotional video.
This announcement aligns with “Honey Day” in Japan, an event celebrated on August 2.
Voice actress Kana Ichinose and manga author Mayu Murata will attend a special stage event for the anime at the “Ciao Fes x Ribon Mirai Festa Girls Comic Fes 2024” on August 11 at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall D.
The anime is scheduled to debut in January 2025 on Fuji TV’s +Ultra programming block. Hiroshi Nishikiori is directing the series at J.C.STAFF, with Akiko Waba overseeing the series composition, Aimi Tanaka designing the characters, and Akira Kosemura composing the music.
The production and planning are being handled by UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS. First serialized in Shueisha’s Ribon magazine in December 2015, Honey Lemon Soda quickly gained popularity.
The manga’s first volume was published in May 2016, and its 26th volume is set for release on August 23. The series has seen remarkable success, with over 13 million copies in circulation as of July.
Yen Press is translating the manga into English, and the seventh volume is scheduled for release on October 15.
The story centers around Uka Ishimori, a middle school girl burdened with emotional scars who finds new hope after meeting a boy with lemon-colored hair, inspiring her to believe that life can be sweeter if she reaches out for help.
In 2021, Honey Lemon Soda was adapted into a live-action film, further solidifying its popularity. The upcoming anime adaptation promises audiences with its touching story and relatable characters.
