The anime Henjin no Salad Bowl (A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics) website has shared that it will come out on April 4, 2024.
They also revealed a new trailer, introduced more actors, and told us about the songs. Wanuka will sing the opening song “Gifu ni Teddo” (Gifted), and Meiyo Densetsu will perform the ending song “Konban no Kenka” (Tonight’s Battle).
More actors have joined the cast of “Henjin no Salad Bowl.” Yoji Ueda will play Isao Kusanagi, Shinnosuke Tachibana will be Takeo, and Kohsuke Toriumi takes on the role of Suzuki. Here are some descriptions of these characters:
- Isao: He’s 54 years old and the head of the biggest detective agency in Gifu City. Isao sometimes takes on illegal tasks to earn money.
- Takeo: A tough guy from Gifu who often offers Livia questionable jobs. Suzuki: A homeless man living under a bridge, his age is a mystery.
- Suzuki: A homeless man who lives under a bridge. Despite his tough appearance, he’s really a kind person. He helps Livia learn how to survive on the streets.
Henjin no Salad Bowl” began as a light novel series by Yomi Hirasaka (known for “Haganai” and “A Sister’s All You Need”) in 2021. The story has been released in six volumes by Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko.
Later, it was turned into a manga series with art by Kotaro Yamada, published on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry platform.
The anime adaptation is directed by Masafumi Sato, and the script is written by Hirasaka and Kenichi Yamashita. SynergySP and Studio Comet are the animation studios bringing the series to life.
The “Henjin no Salad Bowl” manga and light novel haven’t been officially translated or licensed in English yet.
The story revolves around Sousuke Kaburaya, a struggling detective who crosses paths with Sara, a princess from a magical world.
As they start living together, Sara quickly adjusts to life in modern Japan. At the same time, Livia, a female knight who followed Sara, lives as a homeless person but finds unexpected joy in her days.
These two characters, along with other quirky folks they encounter, have a significant impact on Sousuke’s life and the community they’re in.
The anime will debut on the TBS channel on April 4 at 25:28 (which is effectively April 5 at 1:28 a.m. or April 4 at 12:28 p.m. EDT). It will also air on CBC TV, BS11, and AT-X. Here’s the list of previously announced cast members:

Hirasaka (known for “Haganai” and “A Sister’s All You Need.”) and Kantoku (from “Sasaki and Peeps” and “The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat.”) started the light novel series in October 2021. The sixth volume came out on February 19.
Kōtarō Yamada (who worked on “Sword Art Online: Project Alicization”) began the manga adaptation on the Sunday Webry website in September 2022. The fourth compiled book volume will be out on April 12.
