Helldivers 2 has reached another major milestone, with Sony Interactive Entertainment confirming that the hit co-op shooter had welcomed more than 22.9 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as of August 9, 2026. The figure makes the game one of PlayStation’s biggest live-service successes to date.
The milestone is particularly notable because it was recorded before Helldivers 2 joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on August 12. Sony announced the player count while confirming the game’s arrival on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
The reported 22.9 million total reflects players across all platforms rather than sales alone. Helldivers 2 launched on PS5 and PC in February 2024 before expanding to Xbox Series X|S in August 2025.
Sony described the game as a “standout success” and credited its combination of unpredictable action and cooperative gameplay. The game has also continued to receive new content, including enemy types, storylines, customization options, and collaborations.
With PlayStation Plus now giving Extra and Premium members access to the game, the audience has room to grow further beyond the already impressive August 9 figure.
