Fans of fantasy light novels have plenty to celebrate. After years of anticipation, Heir to a Monstermancer is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. On Friday, Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures announced that the popular series, known in Japan as Mamono Tsukai no Musume: Midori no Hitomi no Shōjo and internationally as Monster Master Girl, is heading to television.
The production team also released the anime’s first teaser visual while introducing the main cast and production staff, giving fans their first official preview of the upcoming adaptation.
From Web Novel to Award-Winning Light Novel/h2>
Heir to a Monstermancer began as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2016, where creator Damu Amato serialized the story until 2024. Its growing popularity eventually led to a print release by Drecom Media, featuring illustrations by Shirabii.
The series gained even more attention after winning the Grand Prize at the 2nd Drecom Media Awards. Drecom has continued publishing new volumes, with the latest installment scheduled for release in Japan on July 10.
For English readers, J-Novel Club publishes the light novel, making it easier for international fans to follow the story before the anime premieres.
What Is Heir to a Monstermancer About?
The story follows Hakura, an experienced adventurer who is seriously injured during a battle with a hydra. His life is saved by Leen, a mysterious young woman with the rare ability to tame any monster.
After their unexpected meeting, Hakura joins Leen on her journey. Along the way, they face dangerous monsters, powerful enemies, and new allies while slowly building a strong friendship.
Blending fantasy, adventure, and character-driven storytelling, the series offers a mix of action, humor, and heartfelt moments that has helped it build a loyal fanbase.
A Growing Fantasy Series
The anime announcement comes after the series steadily gained popularity outside Japan. J-Novel Club announced the English release of the light novel in 2025, introducing the story to a wider audience.
The upcoming TV anime is another major milestone for the franchise, reflecting the growing interest in fantasy light novels receiving anime adaptations.
With its award-winning source material and expanding international readership, Heir to a Monstermancer is well positioned to reach even more fans through its television debut.
What Comes Next?
While the TV anime has now been officially announced, Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures has not yet confirmed a premiere date, animation studio, streaming platform, or release window.
More information, including additional cast members, staff announcements, and the first full trailer, is expected as production moves forward.
Until then, fans can catch up on the original story through J-Novel Club’s English light novel releases while waiting for more updates on the anime adaptation.
