A good revenge story never goes wrong, and Hectopascals delivers that perfectly. After losing everything, it is easier just to give up, but our main character rises up again even after being brutally crushed unfairly. Such is the story of Hectopascals, a manhwa written and illustrated by Gil Seunggeon.
The story follows a young man named Park Han-Joon, a legendary brawler who was once feared and revered. Park Han-Joon was the leader of a gang called Nexus, but his fate took a bad turn when he met Kim Cheonsoo. After going up against Kim Cheonsoo as the Nexus’ leader, Han-Joon might have won the fight, but his own gang members turned against him and sued him along with Cheonsoo.
Han-Joon was found guilty after the court received tons of fabricated evidence against him. Han-Joon was even more devastated when his father’s martial arts center had to be sold off to cover the fees of the lawyer and lawsuit. After everything that happened, the legendary fighter Han Joon vowed never to fight again, ever.
Han-Joon’s vow allowed him to become the target of violence at the hands of Nexus members, and he was physically beaten up on a daily basis. Han-Joon just quietly endured all the beatings because of his oath. Things change when Han-Joon meets Oh Junwoo, a self-made millionaire who offers him any amount of money he wants in exchange for Han-Joon defeating Cheonsoo.
Han-Joon is quick to take up the offer due to his resentment towards Cheonsoo, especially when he became the Nexus’ leader after pulling a dirty trick. Han-Joon is back in his form, and no one is safe from his wrath anymore.
Hectopascals: Chapter 38 Recap
Previously in the manhwa, we saw Kim Donghun narrate what happened two years ago in the incident against Cheonsoo and Park Munyeong. Donghun had been jumped and abducted by Park Munyeong and his lackeys to lure Han Joon to them and defeat them. Once the building they were in burned down, Munyeong blamed everything on Han Joon, and Han Joon ended up being sued by Cheonsoo.
Cheonsoo begins making his move now that Han Joon is up and about, telling Moongil that he will have Munyeong handle Kim Donghun and Han Joon. Moongil tells Cheonsoo that he would rather personally deal with Han Joon than waste precious resources on him. Finally, they begin their plan. Munyeong jumps both Han Joon and Donghun at the same time, dealing them with surprise attacks.
They give Donghun a photo of Han Joon, which confuses Donghun as he gets the feeling that Munyeong is up to something again. Munyeong sends a fabricated picture of Donghun all bound and beaten up to Han Joon, asking him to come and save Donghun. Han Joon takes off to get to the given address without a second thought, unaware that the photo had been manipulated by Munyeong and that Donghun is well and safe.
