The famous duo, Mike Brewer and Marc Priestley, host of Wheeler Dealers, lost their precious car hours before their show’s premier, and it’s been sad for not only them but their fans as well.
This duo of automobile enthusiasts who restore cars and sell them to a new owner had spent around a hundred days restoring the historic Ford Fiesta Mk1 1300 S, but before they could even share the final result with the world, it was taken away.
The motoring show is shot at Westcott in Buckinghamshire. However, the car was reportedly stolen from Wakefield. Both Mike and Marc described this whole experience for their fans, saying it has been like losing a child.
There are countless cars this duo has restored, but they can hardly remember any other car they had given this much extra attention to. They dedicated so much love, care, and special attention to this project that losing it all was raw, and they had tears in their eyes when they first heard the news.
Ford Fiesta Restoration Project: What Inspired The Hosts To Work On This Particular Car?
The car company Ford earlier announced the end of the Fiesta range, which motivated them to work on this small, historic car dating back to the 1970s. There are only four models left of this car in the entire country, and this model was originally manufactured in 1979.
As expected, this was the duo’s “proudest ever achievement.” However, they didn’t realize how important this car and restoration project was until they found there were only four registered in the UK.
More About The Historic Ford Fiesta Mk1 1300 S
The car was being kept in a covered trailer to store and transport it easily. Mike, one half of the show, believes that the thieves may have targeted the trailer and stolen the car by mistake. He thinks they didn’t know there was a car inside, which sounds absurd.
The car’s registration number is JBY 10 V, and it’s believed to have gotten stolen late on Monday night or early on Tuesday morning. The robbery took place in the parking lot of the Premier Inn in Knottingley. That’s where Mike and Marc were staying, all excited for the next day when they were planning on taking it to a Ford Festival in Yorkshire after the reparation work was complete.
The car was supposed to be shown to others for the first time during this festival, but it was stolen by the time they woke up. It was disheartening the think that they had to stand in front of a thousand people at the festival they had arranged and break out the news. There were tears, and it was tough for both of them, but it had to be done.
Has Wheelers Dealers Fiesta Been Found? Update On The Stolen Car
The West Yorkshire Police is still looking into it, and it’s been months, but the car, a Ford Fiesta, hasn’t been found yet. Brewer even announced a £5000 reward for whoever found it. After spending £11,200 on the reparation work, this is nothing to get their precious car back.
They had updated the bodywork, repaired the engine, and fitted new water and oil pumps to make it better. Although there were times when the car looked hideous, they were satisfied with the result. Both Mike and March believed it was going to be the star attraction at the Wheeler Dealers’ “Fiestaval.” It was an event intended to celebrate the end of the model after Ford decided to cease its production.
Today, the show has aired, and a lot of people have watched it, but, unfortunately, the car is still lost. The hosts were hoping that with the show’s premiere, someone might come forward, but nothing as such has happened yet. Mike and Marc have mentioned that they do not want to sell the car or make a profit out of it; they only want to rescue what’s a historic object, but nobody knows when the car will be found.
Wheeler Dealers airs on Quest and Discovery+ every Monday at 9 PM., so don’t forget to tune into it for some more fun car restorations!
