Netflix has commenced streaming all 75 episodes of “Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting” in North America, along with the series’ additional 76th episode. Viewers can enjoy the series in both English subbed and dubbed formats, while Episode 76 is available only with English subtitles.
Animated by the acclaimed studio Madhouse, with direction by Satoshi Nishimura, the arrival of “Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting” on Netflix marks a significant triumph for North American fans.
Joining the series were fellow fighting anime “Baki Hanma” and “Record of Ragnarok,” contributing to an unexpected breakdown of viewership.
Currently, Netflix describes “Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting!” as follows: “Rescued from bullies by professional boxer Mamoru Takamura, young Ippo Makunouchi takes up boxing to pursue what it means to be strong.” Notable voice actors include Kohei Kiyasu (Japanese) and Steve Staley (English) as Ippo, and Rikiya Koyama and Eddie Frierson as the respective versions of Mamoru Takamura.
Originating from the original manga series by George Morikawa, “Hajime no Ippo” holds the distinction of being one of the longest-running and best-selling manga series of all time. It recently joined the elite 100 million manga sales club, alongside titles like “My Hero Academia.”
The Netflix release coincides with a resurgence in the franchise’s popularity. In 2023, Kodansha made the “Hajime no Ippo” manga officially available in English for the first time through its K MANGA platform.
