Recap
The chapter starts with the continuation of the match between Mashiba and Ippo. Ippo watched Mashiba’s move closely to figure out a way to defeat him. Ippo notices that by sticking out his leg, Mashiba creates a barrier.
It’s basically suggesting Ippo not to enter. And since it’s in the way, he can’t push in any deeper. It makes a takeover way more difficult, too. Plus, Mashiba’s long right doesn’t just land because his reach is long.
In a normal angled stance, Mashiba’s more squared up now, which makes his right hand closer to his opponent. After noticing all that, Ippo gets even more excited to fight Mashiba. However, Mashiba didn’t wait for Ippo to get ready and started attacking him right away since they were already in a match.
Mashiba starts to punch Ippo continuously. Ippo was focusing on his right hand, but his left was hard to dodge. He wasn’t able to focus with those pouches coming at him non-stop. For a split second, Mashiba stopped and tried to punch with full force.
Ippo thought that his punch would come for his body, but Mashiba punched him in the face. Mashiba forced Ippo to drop his guard for it. Ippo knew that this could even work well on a world-level player. With that punch, the three rounds came to an end.
Ippo tells him that if he didn’t have his headgear on, the last punch would have taken him down. Mashiba tells him that since he came all the way out there, they should fight more. However, Ippo tells him that he is already all beat up.
And since he is not active anymore, he doesn’t have the mental stamina to keep going. Mashiba tells him that if he still has the gat on the tank, he will be fine. It seems like Mashiba saw Ippo with his sister that night. He thinks that Ippo kidnapped his little sister, so he doesn’t want the chance to pulverize Ippo to go to waste.
