Coach Kamogawa asked Ippo how he was going to go there and give them some bad advice. He should better have some backup plans prepared beforehand. On top of that, Ippo’s partner was about to participate in a world title match, which further complicated things.

Manabu already knew Ippo was planning to give Mashiba some advice but mentioned that the coach did not believe that words would be enough to convey it.

So he sent Manabu to make sure Ippo did not make any stupid mistakes. Ippo was very nervous; he could not even manage to open the door of the gym.

He wanted to go in there, but he did not have the confidence. Manabu reminded him it was not Dojo Yubari, so it was going to be fine, and told him he was there to give kind advice, so he did not need to be so anxious about it.

Ippo explained to Manabu that Mashiba always twists his words, and he even finds him scary, so he hesitates because of that. Ippo did not want to show Mashiba that he was arrogant or had a bad attitude.

Mashiba was already at the door; he even heard some of their conversation. Ippo was scared; he was hoping that Mashiba had not overheard their conversation. Mashiba assured him he would not twist his words and told him to do whatever he had in mind.

Manabu explained everything to Mashiba after they went inside the room. Manabu told them Ippo wanted to spar with Mashiba. Everyone thought they were joking because Mashiba had already retired; he was not even a southpaw, and on top of that, he was from a different weight class.

They did not want Ippo and Manabu to mess with them because they were preparing for a world title match. Manabu told them they were there with Coach Kamogawa’s permission, and Ippo wanted to give it a try.
