A Japanese boxing manga series Hajime No Ippo written and illustrated by George Morikawa follows the story of a high school student Makunouchi Ippo as he begins his career in boxing, and from nothing, he becomes someone receiving titles and defeats various opponents.
Makunouchi Ippo was a weak kid bullying who was very easy on others; he was always running errands for other kids or being beaten up by them. He had accepted his fate and never once thought of changing his life. He had dreamt about it but never had the courage to do it.
Another day in the middle of Makunouchi, Ippo is being bullied; Ippo is saved by Takamura Mamoru, who happens to be a boxer. Ippo faints because of his injuries, and Takamura brings him to his boxing gym to recover.
As Ippo recovers a bit and regains his consciousness, he is amazed and in awe of his surroundings of the gym, although lacked the confidence to try anything even tho he wants to. To help Ippo with this, Takamura gets a brilliant idea.
Takamura pasted Ippo’s rival’s photo on a punching bag and asked him to punch it as hard as he could. It was only then Ippo felt a stir inside him and eventually liked it and asked Takamura to be his master and train him in boxing.
Takamura didn’t have a problem with that, but one thing is for sure he did think Ippo didn’t have what it takes to be a boxer, so Takamura gave him a nearly impossible task and gave him a one-week deadline. Ippo trains really hard to complete his task within the given time limit, and that is how his story begins.
Previously on Hajime no Ippo Chapter 1422: Recap
In Chapter 1442-“The One Who Can’t Accept It” of Hajime No Ippo, we saw Ippo was in the Mashiba house while his friends waited outside, waiting to help him if anything went wrong. They were ready to throw stones at the house or the person who touched him.
Nana-nee had called two more guys saying their master was in trouble, and decided more people might create more problems, so they should stay out of it. While they were all talking about this, they noticed slight movement through the broken window of Mashiba’s house.
Ippo was preparing to leave the Mashiba house after handing them some fish for dinner. Even tho Mashiba’s sister called him to eat something and go, he denied it and left from there. Only to be stopped by Mashiba at the stairs.
Mashiba gave him his weights and asked him if he had any regrets. Ippo told him that he is so used to the weights that they feel like a part of his body and that he didn’t have any regrets, and he’s still doing the roadwork because he jas his students.
Mashiba asks him if he is fine with never fighting Miyata Ichiro and if he still has no regrets. This made Ippo kind of angry, but he didn’t respond to it. And that’s when Mashiba told him that it was he who had fouled Miyata because he wanted to become the world champion.
Ippo was about to punch him out of anger but didn’t since Mashiba apologized. He said he wanted to be the best for his sister no matter what, and now it seems otherwise, so he wants to be the best brother, and for that, he needs Ippo’s help. So Ippo also promised to help him with everything he has got.
