Synopsis
In Jing, an ancient city in mainland China, there lived Zhen Zhong, a relatively young Emperor who had just ascended the throne. However, due to a recent violent outbreak, the state had been falling apart, leaving the royal palace too with little to nothing. With the defense of the royal palace now lower than ever after this rebellion, many nobles from different states now had their sight set on the crown.
As the political struggles of the court carry on, the common folk who live in the state of Jing are left with no choice but to struggle and make a living off the land. During these harsh circumstances, Mo Xi, our female protagonist, was trying to avoid the cruel outcome her aunt had planned for her. Mo Xi was an orphan, so her aunt was her only source of family.
As the Lady of the Mai mansion, Mo Xi’s aunt wanted her married off to this stable keeper during these trying times. However, Mo Xi was not one to meekly submit to her aunt’s wishes. She was aware of her worth and did what she wished to do. Her free-spirited mentality becomes the reason for her getting entangled in one of her aunt’s schemes.
Her aunt had planned on getting her beloved daughter Bai Feng Yao married to one of the well-known military officials, Chen Wen De. It was rumored that before Wen De enrolled in the military, he had been a former bandit. Furthermore, he had a poor reputation among the women for his impolite behavior.
Mo Xi decided to help her cousin out from the marriage set up by her aunt but found herself stuck in a situation where now she was becoming his main love interest!
