Another season of Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue is making its way to Discovery Channel. This iteration of the popular Gold Rush franchise, where miners and prospectors go out to the sticks to dig up the earth under demanding and extreme conditions, is one of Discovery Channel’s most popular and widely viewed shows.
For Freddy, it is all about going to apparently defunct mines and bringing them back to their old glory with novel techniques that, combined with the traditional aspects of gold digging with shovels and pots, net him massive profits. These kinds of shows are exciting because they give us a glimpse of what it’s like to be in these men’s and women’s shoes as they risk money, life, and limb in search of mineral wealth.
Gold Rush: Freddy Dodge’s Mine Rescue Season 3 Preview
Freddy Dodge is back for another exploration and adventure in search of precious metals. Last season he was on a vast swath of arid land, improvising new techniques to mine gold dust and nuggets that included the creation of a water ditch where he and his team mixes polymers to separate dust from water and get better yields.
The result of combining chemical extraction techniques with traditional pots and shovels, as well as heavy machinery, was impressive because Freddy and his crew started getting massive yields from a mine that makes about $150,000 a year.
For this season, we can expect more challenges, as the conditions where he’s mining, prospecting, and conducting his operations are intense; the heat, the remote location, and the mining permit all play a factor. For one, the remote location and the heat add up to the operation costs; plus, he’s working on a tight deadline because, due to environmental regulations, the crew can’t mine year-round.
So, we’ll see how the team adapts to the demanding conditions. We can expect lots of surprises, big finds, and amazing engineering feats in yet another season of the Gold Rush.
