Godzilla Minus One finished its big run at the movies, making a huge $56,418,793. Originally, it was only supposed to be in theaters for a week, but people loved it so much that it stayed for nine weeks. They even showed a special black-and-white version, called Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, just last week.
Even though it got nominated for an award for its cool special effects, the movie is leaving theaters early. They want to make space for the next movie, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, coming out in eight weeks.
This Godzilla movie did something really special – it became the movie that made the most money in the U.S. out of all the live-action Japanese movies. It’s also the movie that made the most money internationally in the U.S. since the pandemic started, and it’s the movie that made the most money internationally in the U.S. in the last 24 years. People liked it because, besides the giant monster destroying things, it also showed interesting things about the characters.
