A God of War Ragnarok fan believes they have uncovered another hidden reference to Phranque, the mysterious blue cube companion introduced in the recently revealed God of War: Laufey. The discovery has reignited community speculation that Santa Monica Studio has been quietly teasing Faye’s standalone story years before its official announcement.
While the theory has not been confirmed by the developer, it aligns with previous comments from God of War director Cory Barlog, who has said that Faye’s story has been planned since the franchise’s Norse era began.
New Discovery in Tyr’s Vault Fuels Fan Theories
The latest finding was shared by fan SouMorse on X (formerly Twitter), who spotted what appears to be a blue cube inside Tyr’s Vault during a replay of God of War Ragnarok.
The object bears a striking resemblance to Phranque, the blue cube companion featured in the reveal trailer for God of War: Laufey. Nearby, SouMorse also highlighted a spear decorated with a blue gemstone that resembles the same visual motif used throughout Faye’s promotional artwork.
The fan also pointed out that a symbol featured prominently in God of War: Laufey appears elsewhere in Ragnarok, including on Faye’s ash pouch and Kratos’ shrine. According to the PlayStation Store, the symbol represents a phoenix, further encouraging speculation that these details were intentionally placed years in advance.

The latest theory follows earlier revelations from actress Deborah Ann Woll, who portrays Faye, that she learned about the project as early as 2018. During the game’s reveal, she also noted that key promotional artwork shown publicly had remained largely unchanged throughout development.
Combined with Cory Barlog’s previous comments about long-term planning for Faye’s story, many fans believe these environmental details may have been deliberate foreshadowing rather than coincidences.
However, Santa Monica Studio has not confirmed whether the objects discovered in Tyr’s Vault were intended as references to Phranque or God of War: Laufey. Until the developer comments, the discoveries remain community theories rather than official lore.
Even so, the latest findings have added to the excitement surrounding God of War: Laufey, with fans continuing to revisit God of War Ragnarok in search of additional clues hidden throughout the Norse saga.
