Former Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner, 73, is taking another chance on love — just months after his public divorce from Theresa Nist, whom he married on national television.
In a candid interview on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, Gerry revealed that he has started dating someone new and has even informed his ex-wife Theresa about it.
“At this point, it’s going well, but I don’t wanna say too much and jinx it,” Turner shared, clearly choosing to tread carefully as his new romance begins to bloom.
Gerry emphasized that while he’s excited about the new relationship, he’s also mindful of the timing, noting that his divorce from Theresa was finalized just a year ago in April 2024 — a mere three months after their televised wedding in January.

While modern dating norms may allow for quicker rebounds, Turner admitted he has an “old-fashioned” mindset and wants to be respectful of the short time that has passed.
He also addressed the importance of transparency, saying that he already had a conversation with Theresa to let her know he’s dating again.
“I told Theresa that I’m dating someone,” he said, explaining that he didn’t want the news to come as a surprise.
One touching detail he shared was how his new partner and her family are beginning to integrate into his life — especially his daughters, Angie and Jenny.
Turner expressed joy at how well their families are blending, mentioning that his partner’s daughter gets along well with his daughters, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity.
“It’s been fun. It’s been a very enjoyable encounter,” he added.
In reflecting on his split from Theresa, Gerry reiterated that there was no animosity or drama involved in their breakup.
In fact, he described their parting as respectful and rooted in reality rather than romance.
He shared that after the show ended and the cameras stopped rolling, real-life responsibilities—including Theresa’s role as a new grandmother and his close bond with his daughters following the loss of his first wife—pulled them in different directions.
“I think more than anything, it was our mutual deep devotion to our families,” Turner said, acknowledging that these ties ultimately made it difficult for them to find common ground in their relationship.
Interestingly, Gerry admitted that he may have emotionally withdrawn from Theresa out of a desire to shield her from the intense public scrutiny and negativity that sometimes followed them after their time on TV.

He emphasized that it wasn’t due to ill will, but rather a belief that space might be better for both of them.
Despite the breakup, he still speaks of Theresa with respect and empathy, saying he believes they shared mutual understanding and admiration, even if the relationship didn’t last.
When reflecting on whether things might have been different under other circumstances, Gerry was honest.
He revealed that if it weren’t for the physical distance between them — he lives in Indiana and Theresa in New Jersey — they might still be together.
“If you eliminate that huge obstacle, I can see no red flags,” he said. “I still don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t have worked out.”
But he also acknowledged that their romance was still so new when they got married, and there may have been other compatibility issues they hadn’t yet discovered.
In all, Gerry Turner’s update shows a man who is learning, healing, and still open to love — but doing it on his own terms, with grace and thoughtfulness.
While his Golden Bachelor journey didn’t lead to forever the first time, it seems like he’s still writing his story — and he’s not done yet.
