GENERATIONS are challenging themselves to recreate the energy of one of their defining hits with their latest single, “VIBE.”

Released digitally on September 28, the EDM-driven track looks back to the group’s 2016 hit “AGEHA” while introducing a fresh sound designed for a new era.

The new song arrives ahead of GENERATIONS’ 15th anniversary year, which begins in November.

“VIBE” also marks the group’s first CD single in four years, with its physical release scheduled for October 28.

Rather than simply attempting to recreate the formula behind “AGEHA,” the members wanted “VIBE” to capture the same DNA while reflecting how much they have grown over the past decade.

Leader Alan Shirahama played a major role in creating the track, co-writing and arranging it alongside TET$V and Kanata Okajima.

Alan Shirahama Helps Shape GENERATIONS’ New Dance Anthem

“VIBE” draws heavily from the dance-oriented sound associated with GENERATIONS and LDH, combining an energetic beat with a hook designed to get audiences involved during live performances.

Shirahama explained that the group did not want to simply repeat the sound of their earlier hit.

Instead, they wanted to preserve elements that had become part of GENERATIONS’ musical identity while adding something that felt current.

He described the approach as creating a sound that had moved beyond being associated only with a particular era and had instead become something that genuinely belonged to GENERATIONS.

He also emphasized that the group wanted to put fresh elements inside that familiar musical DNA.

As a dancer, trackmaker, and producer, Shirahama also paid particular attention to how the song would work physically during performances.

He focused on creating rhythms and sounds that would allow the members to move naturally rather than simply filling the track with complicated production.

That emphasis is especially evident in the song’s dance sections, which give the performers room to showcase their choreography and stage presence.

‘VIBE’ Looks Toward GENERATIONS’ Next 15 Years

The accompanying music video further connects GENERATIONS’ past with its future.

All six members appear through live-action footage, while the backgrounds and surrounding environments were created using generative AI.

The approach allowed the group to present a visual world that would not have been possible when “AGEHA” was released 10 years ago.

The choreography is another major highlight, with the dance drop taking center stage. Vocalist Ryuto Kazuhara’s sliding sequence is among the moments featured in the music video.

Shirahama also described the song’s opening line, “this is where the good part starts,” as both a declaration and a challenge to the group itself.

Rather than approaching the track with the same intensity they had a decade ago, he said there is now a sense of ease that comes with having grown older, while the song still contains moments designed for audiences to shout along with during concerts.

The release has already generated strong reactions from fans, with many praising the song’s energetic sound and the members’ performance.

A LINE livestream featuring all six members to celebrate the release also surpassed one million total views.

Following their 13-date hall tour, GENERATIONS are preparing for their nationwide arena tour, “GENERATIONS LIVE TOUR 2026 ‘PARALLEL QUEST,’” which begins at the end of October.

With “VIBE” serving as a bridge between their “AGEHA” era and the group’s upcoming 15th anniversary, GENERATIONS are showing that revisiting their past does not necessarily mean repeating it.
